This guy is a stud! He's got a weed problem though. I might like him more than Cooper. Similar to Brandon Marshall in talent and size
This is the thing that might drop him down in to day 3, or at the very least the 3rd round. Unless he really impresses teams in the interview process AND keeps his nose clean until draft day I don't see any team wasting a first or second round pick on a guy who may get suspended for a season or indefinitely by the 2nd or 3rd season of his career due to the NFL's ever growing zero tolerance policy. all the talent in the world doesn't matter if you're likely to spend a significant portion of time off the field while on suspension.
I could see New England grabbing him to end round 2...but I could also see the Chiefs taking him as well.
We all know there is no denying DGB's talent, but the obvious question still remains, is he ready to put his big boy pants on and grow up. The multiple Marijuana incidents are not the only things he has going against him. There also was a incident involving him pushing a girl down some stairs, while the charges against him were dropped, NFL teams (maybe with the exception of Cincinatti and New England) I'm sure will be weary about picking him in rounds 1-2 with all the events that transpired last season. Having said that, here's to DGB being available at our pick anytime after the second round!
I don't think even new England would take the risk of even a 2nd round pick after the Hernandez incident and all the Belicheat talk floating around that was rekindled by deflate gate, they just can't take another black eye right now.
I definitely want this guy. Issues are a big concern, but it is a high risk very high reward scenario. I wouldn't touch him in the 2nd but would grab him in the 3rd with no hesitations. Plus, how cool would it be to have a Beckham of our own to combat the one on the Giants. He's Green Beckham too, which is why he deserves to be on the Jets. (So corny that I'm banning myself from posting for about an hour.)
There are lots of women i'd like to push down a flight of stairs, the difference is I have self-control and I think about the circumstances, can DGB exercise sound judgement when he is faced with adverse situations, which he will find himself in at some point or points in his NFL 'under the spotlight' career?
I am not against taking a flyer on the kid, he's a tremendous talent. The problem is that there are probably a lot of teams that feel the same way and if you want to take him you are probably going to have to take him pretty early... like 2nd round early is my guess. Not sure how I feel about that
He'd been top 10 easily if he played last year instead of getting kicked out of Missou. The experts would be mocking him to us at no.6 overall. The marijuana stuff I am not concerned about. The new NFL policy would give him numerous chances anyway. Plus, remember, he was a Missouri kid growing up. I don't think playing at home for Missou was good for him. It kept him around his deuchebag friends & influences. The violent incident with the woman is a concern though. I would want to get to the bottom of that if I was a GM. However, talent wise, and I know this is a bold statement, but he's Randy Moss like. I wouldn't be upset if the Jets took a leap of faith on a talent like that.
I'll say this, I love DGB but wouldn't touch him till the third. The New NFL policy gives him 3 chances before he's suspended for games, this is true. However, He's already been suspended from one program, kicked off a team, arrested twice, and had an assault charge...these are the signs of a kid that doesn't catch on very quick. As far as his friends in Missouri encouraging him, when he's making big money he's going to have an all new circle of friends to encourage him and all sorts of new temptations so I don't buy the argument 'get him away from his friends and he'll be ok'. He's a tremendous talent, but he's a huge risk.
