This generation of Irish players is very good and they have the infrastructure in place to get better. They should beat UAE comfortably so the crunch game will be Zimbabwe. That should be a very close contest, hard to call. Win it and Ireland will get out of the groups.

I watched the India vs Pakistan match. Just because on of my friends is from Pakistan and is into the sport. I also watch the Ashes. But that's where it ends.

New Zealand absolutely embarrassing England. They destroyed them with their bowling and the NZ captain alone wants to hammer England. Each swing he is going for a home run. He is going to make these English kids cry haha

Aust play bangladesh tomorrow in brisbane but it will be washed out(see my post in jays weather thread with satelite photo) as the aftermath of the cyclone is hitting Brisbane
If is on Clarke will be back after missing 10 weeks with a hamstring injury.

If @KP24 came back I'd want to see heads rolling, starting with Piers Morgan. Come to think of it, I wouldn't really mind it if Morgan's head rolled for no particular reason.

Bloody awful performance. We'll lose to Scotland at this rate. Still, at least the Jets bring me quality every week... Oh hang on...

For those new to cricket...if you want to enjoy watching some action. Here is my favorite cricket match of all time. The crazy drama. Watch the last 20 minutes of the video if you to see the commentary and reaction.

This was a world record match. Aussies broke the record for most runs in a One-Day game, only to have South Africa come back (no one thought they had a shot) and break the World record again. It came down to the final ball.

Excellent game. Australia at this time was in their dominant run

I would venture to guess that it would be

    1) Soccer
    2) Cricket
    3) Rugby
    4) Basketball
    5) Baseball
    6) Hockey

I think you've overvalued rugby Barry. Even if you lump both codes together (union & league) then it is still only the #1 sport in NZ and South Africa (and only in the white population). Would be #2/3 in Aus, UK and France. It's a pretty minority sport elsewhere although played quite widely. Cricket is only up there because of India. I suspect basketball might be more popular than you think, but I'd suggest tennis and golf might be up there too, though as individual sports perhaps they should be listed separately.

Baseball is played in South American countries as well, it's gaining popularity in Europe. I have a friend who coaches in Austria (for some reason they have 2 pro leagues in Austria). It's widely popular where I'm at in Taiwan as well There are also leagues in Australia.

I just googled to see what I could find a few and I'm not sure how all of them are basing their results on but ...

Seems you are right about hockey but not the kind played on ice... the kind played on a field and the one we are used to seeing high school girls play in the US and pretty much no where else.

Based on most of the lists I see it's

    soccer
    cricket
    field hockey

but they all have baseball ahead of ice hockey and I was way off on rugby... not even top 10

I was only naming team sports but you might be right about tennis or even track and field.
