Did they scrimmage or something? I was unaware that the two teams played this year to make that assumption.

He's Right: Carolina does have Villanova's number, just like Villanova has Duke's number.

duke won the ACC Tournament b/c of Carolina injuries and Carolina didn't care. we saw what happened when 'Nova faced the real best team in the ACC that year.

'Nova was better in '09 than they are today, duke is better now than they were in '09.

Has nothing to do with my original point.

Using your premise the UNC "has Villanova's number" based on past performance, I will just apply the same logic and say Villanova has Duke's number.

These players change so much from year to year. What's happened in the past says nothing about this year.

Nova beat Duke in 2009? Most of the current players from both teams were still in junior high. You really think that makes any difference?

most of the ACC has had Virginia's "number" for decades. That doesn't seem to matter this year now does it

I ask again, outside of that 1 game in 2009 when have they played? Carolina has beaten 'Nova 3 times in the Tourney over the last decade.

I enjoyed that game too, that was a fun Tournament that year. Can't believe it's been that long since the Heels last FF app.

OK, once again, using YOUR metrics, Villanova is UNDEFEATED against DUKE in the NCAA Tournament this past Decade.

    We have their number

That game was the setup for the NCAA Game of the Decade: The CLASSIC Villanova/Pitt battle.

yep, you got me. You are so smart.

the game no one remembers or cares about as the team that won was humiliated the next game.

Either that or your original premise is dumb. Take your pick.

Does anyone else here remember that game? I'd appreciate it if you step forward and say so in order to disprove junc's claim that NO ONE remembers it.

some systems and styles match up better w/ others. Carolina dominates MSU even when MSU is better, Carolina has dominated Pitino teams until that 2nd half a few weeks ago. The better team doesn't always win, on the flip side Texas has dominated Carolina recently. this game is about matchups and styles.

I bet you know one remembers anything specific about that game w/o looking it up.

So, I can't say that Duke does not match up well with Jay Wright's Villanova style of guards crashing the boards, pressure defense basketball?

    Let's see

you can but they have much better guards today than 2008 and they have beaten them once- so have Mercer and Lehigh.

Three times? I thought North Carolina beat them twice, in 2009 and 2013.
