You're asking me what MY point is? You are trying to argue a point that the NFC was better than the AFC back then, and you think that proves your point that the AFC was weaker relative to the AFC now. What does one have to do with the other? The AFC being the weaker conference back then had nothing to do with how tough the AFC was within itself. To say that the AFC was terrible COMPARED to the NFC's best teams is one thing; to use that as an argument that the AFC was tougher to get out of makes no sense. And yes, New England has a stranglehold on the division. That's the DIVISION. What's that got to do with anything? The Jets have only had to play the Pats in the playoffs a couple of times so your logic that they didn't have to go through the better teams in the 80s holds no water either. You seem to love making a point and then using the same exact point the opposite way on the other half of your argument. You don't even realize how badly you contradict yourself a lot of the time. You are knowledgeable about football in general, and you are passionate, I'll give you that. But you are completely incapable of being objective in any manner.
I still don't see your point, it's great we had some really good and even great QBs but w/o the teams around them the teams were not really good or great. You do know we never have a chance to host a playoff game or get a bye b/c NE is in our division, right? it has nothing to do w/ facing them in postseason. We are playing for a WC every year thanks to NE. In the 80s we had the ability to win divisions and get byes, had the talent too- too bad we didn't have the QB. If I couldn't be objective I'd be saying the same things as you guys as I loved those 80s teams. I can be objective and I always am- I am a very rare one on here that can be.
I didn't vote, no need. polls mean nothing to me. B/c we have many delusional fans that don't have a clue about this game doesn't tell us anything. You can believe what you want, I believe in reality.
Either Kenny or Chad for sure. Having watched both play extensively, I think that Ken was overall the better QB. He did have Toon and Walker and Schuler, and a great arm. His big issue was how he stared down his receivers, so his answer to that was to wear that dark visor (which didn't seem to help much). Chad was awesome also, but his arm strength was always in question. He would make the 1 or 2 deep throws a game which would never complete, but I guess he attempted to keep the CBs honest.
