Oakland screwed the pooch by letting the 49ers get to Santa Clara first. San Jose has twice the population of San Francisco or Oakland and is where all the money is. The 49ers stadium being a silicon valley centerpiece is really a death blow to the Raiders in regards to growth. Then again, everyone here hates the 49ers right now.
LA won't get and doesn't need a team. One, Carson would be a disaster. The city can't even handle the logistics for 30,000 for international soccer matches but they could figure out 70,000 plus for the NFL? Not a fucking chance. Add an hour to your commute to the game just to get off the freeway, and another hour just to get to the stadium. It's brutal. I think most people don't give a shit because they are happy watching popular out of market teams. There's a reason it has been gone 20 years -- nobody has clamored to get it back.
Heard today on the FAN that the Chargers and Raider are in discussions about building a combined stadium in LA. Only rub is that the networks would likely demand that one team move to the NFC so that they could televise both teams in the LA market with each network getting its fair share of games. Speculation was that one team would be placed in the NFC West and Seattle would be brought back into the AFC West.
If one team moves to the NFC, then someone would have to move to the AFC to balance it out. Moving Seattle back to the AFC West would be ideal.
Sure, the NFL likely wants to change their divisions just to accommodate these team's desire to move. Not gonna happen. It's a power play to get their existing cities to pony up.
is that metropolitan area joe? seattle never should have left the afc west. i wouldnt mind san diego moving to the nfc but i could see a raiders/rams colaboration once san diego ends up getting what they want in san diego.
