Hate to be that guy, does it piss anyone else off that the Jets didn't burn a 5th round pick on George Iloka in 2012 (More than half of this Message Board was clamoring for him back then, so not even really hindsight). Would've saved us from half our coverage safety woes over the years...

    Oh well...

I always thought Pryor was more of a SS and they could move Antonio Allen to FS. The CB injuries forced Rex to get creative and try out Allen at CB with very mixed results. As a FS I think Allen can excel so I'm not in the camp that thinks FS is a glaring need. CB, OL and LB to me are the most glaring needs aside from a QB that can actually play well in the NFL.

coverage safety is a huge need. Ball hawking one wouldn't hurt either.

We wouldn't be in this position if the clueless GM had just taken Haha Clinton-Dix instead of scrub Pryor.

Allen is a SS NOT a FS or CB. Other than being picked in the first round I can't think of a good reason to automatically gift Pryor the starting SS position and move Allen, who is just a few years removed from being a hybrid LB, to FS. This is the kind of Idzik thinking that got us in this mess. Let them compete for the starting SS position and go find a real FS.

Allen is fairly slow for a FS. He's 4.65+ and hasn't shown an extra gear yet when he has to push it.

Um, being picked in the 1st round generally results in "gifting" the position to the player over the late round pick. Do you see things differently?

Whether you like it or not the Jets have a huge investment in Pryor at this point and a minimal investment in Allen who may not even fit in the scheme now that Rex is gone.

Rex was a two equal safeties kind of guy. He didn't want a guy in the box and a guy in centerfield he wanted both safeties on the edge of the box and interchangeable.

I do see things differently. I really want the mantra Idzik preached but did not practice. I want true competition. If Allen is better as a SS; play Allen. If Pryor is better play Pryor. IMO the 18th overall pick in the draft is not a "huge" investment, given the rookie scale. Also he's now the prior regime's pick Big Mac and Bowles have no obligations towards him.

This would bring instant upgrade to our DB group and be the best bang for the buck.

    No not Revis at $12M!
LaRon Landry at FS and Antonio Cromartie at CB.
They both played together as Jets and Cromartie could help teach the defense.

Additionally I would like these two moves:
Bring in LB Sam Acho who is a FA from the Cardinals and hope he recaptures his rookie season. Would be cheap and knows the defense.

Rumor has it the Raven who are cap strapped may let go of Haloti Ngata, which even at 31 would be a good player to add to our DL and allow us to play an awesome 3-4 and 4-3.

Larn Landry is another Pryor. While he played well when he was here we need more a McCourty type of player.

Exactly. We need a young, speedy, center fielder-type with ball hawking skills. Not an an older jag.
