The thing about Bradford is the team trading for him will need 13 mil in cap space at the time of that deal. Cant trade until first day of free agency.

    http://overthecap.com/salary-cap-space

Out of the teams that need a QB and have 13 mil in cap room there will be limited offers. Titans and Bucs have high picks, but if they don't like something they can offer a late pick for Bradford. jets and bills need a qb and have space. I don't think bradford fits in Kelly's system for the Eagles. Bradford for cutler trade is probably not happening. As with a bradford for RG3. The Texans have only 10 mil in cap space but can create some room if they want.
The rest of the teams have to clear a lot of cap space or already have a QB.

There will be only 2 to 3 teams going after his services and how many will trade for a pick? I would be surprised if he nets a 6th. and who are the Rams going to replace him with?

IMO the Jets cannot afford to give away any draft picks, especially for a QB who isn't that good to begin with and who can't stay healthy.

I understand your point about how YOU think the Rams look. But I don't really know how Bradford looks at it. Any situation like this is starting from a point where the team is essentially saying "I need you to give us money back we already agreed to give you because you got hurt playing football for my team."

It doesn't matter how true or realistic that is. Sincewe are talking about points of view, I would not like to be told that, and to have that as the starting point of the discussion. Especially since I can say no and they aer stuck.

In any event I am only spending as much time as I do on this since I think their situation is very interesting in terms of where the NFL is today. It's not for nothing that teams throw big money to competent but not top tier Qb's, and then for some reason or other come to regret it. But perhaps their regrets are no more realistic than their optimism when they signed the contract.

If teams like Chicago and the Rams go into the next season with the same Qb's they had starting last season, and have not redone those contracts, that will tell you something alright.

If Bradford is traded, and at this point I doubt we get to see what that would look like because I don't expect he will be traded, but if he is, I predict it will be for more than a fifth rounder.

He really does but I'm thinking that the Bears have decided to gut it out and let his salary become guaranteed for 2016. It's even possible that Cutler and the Bears have a deal in place to modify the contract to make it more cap-friendly.

I'd love to see our new HC & GM manage Jay Cutler.

    Well...maybe not.

Yeah, I was gung ho on this before, too, but now think the signs are the new regime out there will stick it out at least another year with Cutler. Oh well...

Makes absolute sense for this team. It is like Jake Locker and Jay Cutler. Tennessee and Chicago fans have penciled one of those two in our QB. We have the worst type of reputation. The type of football team others can count on to departure deposit their shit. The St. Louis Browns of the 21st century. At least Bradford has some past talent when healthy.

I think you'll find a lot of previous "talk" about F/A QB movement ends up being a bunch of crap once it's all said and done. The market is simply that bad right now that most teams realize "better to keep the shit they know" as opposed to bringing in a new headache. All we're going to see is DEEP re-tread type stuff of the Matt Flynn, Ryan Fitzpatrick variety. Now, of course, the Jets QB situation is so bad that even those aforementioned names are a step up. But NOTHING to remotely build a team around...strictly one to two year stop gap guys. Ce la vie.

Unless there is a drastic reduction in salary I would say no deal. Plus maybe STL will cut him anyways because of his high cap number.

You just can't give up draft picks to take on that contract with that injury history. If he is cut you sign him, if he restructures you do a deal. But why would stl trade him if his cap number is reduced?
    I doubt this happens

Why isn't Bradford that good? I think he's actually quite good, when he plays, which is the biggest problem. But given his cap number and injury history, a team trading for him should be able to get him for reasonable draft pick compensation.

His TD to Interception ratio isn't very good for one thing. I've seen him play a lot, both in college and the NFL, and he has never been a QB that made me say I wish he was on the Jets. Still, if he didn't have the injury history, I might be willing to consider him as a stopgap if the Jets didn't have to trade for him. The Jets quite simply cannot afford to trade for a QB, but especially not one who can't stay healthy. It would be typical Jets luck to give up a 3rd round pick or multiple picks, and then have him never play a down for us or play maybe 1-2 games and stay injured the rest of the time. Common sense says that it's just too risky. The Jets have too many holes and they need all the draft picks they can get. It's bad enough that Idzik pissed 9-10 of them away last year. The very idea of trading another pick or picks for a QB who can't stay healthy and who would only be a short-term stopgap is idiotic imo, and not the way to try to build a team.

While there is some risk involved such as durability, and obviously he would have to restructure, I don't see why we wouldn't give up a late round pick to get Bradford. That is unless we plan on moving up in the draft for a QB and our draft picks become that much more valuable. Getting Bradford would give us some flexibility in the draft if a QB doesn't fall in our lap.

I do not agree that Bradford is a bad QB. I think he is actually a relatively good QB, just very injury prone. I would be on board to get him as long as the price is low, and if we draft a rookie to sit behind him for the year.

I haven't read through this entire thread. Has there been a single link provided to confirm this?

All I've seen in the news in regards to Bradford is that he had a say in the new OC and the GM saying they don't plan on moving on from him.

Call me crazy but The fact that he had a say in the OC hire tells me is is going nowhere.

He's a decent enough player that I'd be on board with trading a mid round pick for, IF he restructures to a more friendly deal. Imagine we trade for Bradford and draft Mariota and let him sit for a year or until Bradford gets hurt. It'd be great to not force Mariota into starting right away and let him learn and fly under the radar for a year while learning an NFL offense.

In what, a straight jacket? Unreal that anyone would think Cutler would be the solution at QB. Simply unbelievable. SMH

This kind if thinking would end up meaning that Smith is the Jet Qb for 15.
