wanted to change the title of the thread soon as I posted it when I remembered he was a RFA. but I don't know how, and when I said those were lyrics to songs, I didn't mean the SAME song. it's a group of lyrics from different songs they sound like he used to adress an issue, with his situation a post like that could draw some attention.. it's the offseason.. come on, we've seen worst threads in February. Speak on the topic if your interested and if its irrelevant to you let it be that.
Something tells me we won't see the end of the 4-3 with the Jets. If Snacks gets traded this off-season, maybe Bowles switches to 4-3 primarily. There you could have Wilkerson, Richardson inside with Coples strong side and a potential pass-rushing DE on the left. It's not a forced switch which is good, but at least Bowles has options. It might be the best way to retain Wilkerson and Richardson going forward also.
I don't think Kendrick Ellis would be that much of a downgrade. he's no snacks but he's above average in my book.
To me Snacks is a nice player, but he's not a special player either. He's a good run stuffer but he doesn't generate much push. I'd put a 2nd round tender on him and if no team signs him we get him for reasonable rate and if a team does take him we get a 2nd round pick and I'm ok with that whichever way it turns out.
A lot of people are saying put the 1st round tender on Harrison. Anyone know what the 1st round tender would cost?
If we get a first rounder for him I could absolutely live with letting him go. He's a very good player and the Jets would be smart to pay him fair value, but he's not Wilkerson or Richardson.
Would be sad to see him go. But we could probably survive with a lesser player with Bowles as coach. If we don't get a first and at least a fourth, it would be rip off though.
We better tender him as a 1st rounder. If a team wants to pony up that, and the Jets brass decide to move on from him, then so be it.
Not a 2nd round tender. That would essentially swap Snacks for a mid to late 2nd round pick and that's a bad swap right now. The Jets have one major strength on the team, watching it get frittered away would really suck.
Given our linebacker situation if we could find cheap options like Jason Durant, Geno Hayes, Sean Witherspoon, or Malcolm Smith and sign one and draft another it seems like it would make the front 4 more effective. It would be absolutely awesome if double A could bulk up 20 pounds and be quick enough to beat tackles to the spot so he could play the weak side even though that's a pipe dream. The thing is thst we need linebackers that can cover. Harris is most likely gone but he's constantly 4 yards behind receivers. Having inside backers that can run with backs and slot receivers at least enough to make the throw tougher open up the versatility of your front 7 and entire defense so you don't have to load up with nickels on passing downs.
i could see a scenario where we play a Big Nickel, or 3 S set, on short passing downs. i like the front four providing pass rush, and double A coming in to play alongside Davis, or matched over the TE. If not double A, maybe even Landry if re-signed. i would still sign Harris for base D tho, provided he doesn't get wildly outbid by some other team. it's just a thought. considering how many teams do struggle with LB's covering in space, i wouldn't be surprised to see more 3 S sets start to spring up around the league. obviously, if we can find a stud ILB, that would also be great. Daryl Washington might be worth kicking the tires on as a value signing, provided he can stay out of substance abuse issues.
We haven't had a good coverage linebacker since Vilma it seems like. Demario Davis seems like a guy that could be THAT guy, but his coverage skills leaves much to be desired, that will need to improve. He does have the sideline to sideline speed you want. I think the corps could get upgraded this off-season with one of the guys you mentioned above, and a linebacker in the draft. Eric Kendricks would be a guy you throw at the weak-side linebacker position - he's a late first rounder, early 2nd. Durant, Davis and Kendricks would be a really quick fix and solid trio (not to mention youth). If the Jets feel Davis isn't good enough to play 4-3 ILB, then they should take a long look at Perryman in the 2nd round. I think Harris is as good as gone - he shouldn't be in the team's future plans. Again, completely up to Bowles if he wants to change it up, but he's got plenty of options. Maybe it will come down to who is more valuable to him. Snacks or Coples. Both in contract yrs.
I agree. I do think Davis has a place somewhere on this roster but as you alluded to its up to Bowles to figure out where he fits and what he's best at doing. Talking from my experiences as a high school inside linebacker and knowing some lower end college backers it'd be a middle linebackers dream to play on the center with Coples, Harrison, Richardson and Wilk in terms of run support. I can't imagine too many guards getting a clean run at our ILB whoever that may be. Vilma in his prime would've creamed over these guys up front.
All the fucking time, what a bitchy, whiny cunt he is. He gets hit and it's "I am telling". Sorry , I read "contact". He is such a puss.
They have the money to sign him. You don't mess around at NT. If you have a good one you have to pay them. It also gives a message to your players: if you play well and overachieve we'll take care of you.
