can you hold your breath till mid-march? Harvin's gonna be a jet till the last possible moment if they cut him.

Minor but good moves. CJ was too much of a cap hit for his value plus I remember hearing that he complained about his carries, so maybe he's not a good locker room guy.
Pace and Babin can still contribute even if there last their prime and having them doesn't prevent us from getting guys in FA or the draft.

This doesn't guarantee Pace or Babin will be back. Just a safety net move in case we can't find upgrades in FA

When does he have to be cut before we have to give up a 4th?

He is but I don't see enough good FAs worth spending 60M on this year, the Jets will have to get creative..I'm not sure how much they can get away with not spending this time around.

march 19th apparently, just more than a week after FA starts.

Its also just enough time to gauge wether or not another WR worth a damn is reasonably in our grasp.

I'd rather wait til the third to try and snag Duke, Ajayi or Abdullah.

Yea I get that part if that means we are gonna draft or sign someone else at the position ,If one of them is starting then the move isn't a great one,Neither one of them is a game changer we need some fresh faces at OLB

Yea we need massive upgrades at that position ,If being a "Leader" is all Pace brings to the table then he should consider joining the military...Jets fans just love keeping scrubs around for decades at a time for some reason. This team needs a lot more then Veteran Leaders at this point.I rather have the "League Leader" in sacks then the Scrub washed up veteran leader who is terrible in coverage.Mac needs to get Justin Houston in the building

Even if we can't upgrade, it's not worth keeping him around at the price he costs. He won't contribute enough to justify it. Save the money or spend it on a different position.

I dont understand the need for Pace. The guy is an old, rapidly declining player. Now is the time to get younger at his spot. Let Babin be the vet on the outside.

I highly doubt picking up their options means them locks to make the roster. It also won't preclude them from acquiring others at the position.

I'm ok with it, but I'd much rather have IK starting, and letting the team get younger.

This is true, but don't forget that if we resign Harvin at any point before the draft we still give up that 4th rounder.

Harvin on team come draft day = loss of 4th. Harvin not on team come draft day = loss of 6th.

Yikes. You're severely overreacting to minimal money and severely undervaluing a steady vet presence.

I am all in favor of signing Justin Houston if KC lets him hit the open market. The guy is a beast.

Hopefully Macc and Bowles feel the same.

Pace has done a nice job for us though.

I understand your point, but I wouldn't call him a scrub. His production has more than matched his contract. He can only be who he is. He can't make himself any younger or faster.

Pace has been one of my favourite Jets over these last few (brutal) years.

The GM isn't going to go into offseason creating massive holes at outside linebacker. This lets us take BPA in the draft and not get forced into an unwieldy FA contract.

Real question is if we don't sign Landry, who plays FS? And I'd like to see Bilal Powell signed at the vet min.
