The bottom line is this: Notre Dame plays in the ACC for Basketball. They are NOT an ACC Football team. This proves it is possible to join a major conference without having a football team in the same conference. Therefore, it is possible for Gonzaga to join a major conference without having to play football in the same conference. This is a FACT. You have LOST this argument. it is OVER. Period. You LOST. Deal with it.
and apparently Hackett missed this post: Coincidentally Seth Davis addressed this in his mailbag today: http://www.si.com/college-basketball/2015/02/12/mail-gonzaga-bulldogs-wcc-adam-woodbury-eye-poking
ND has nothing to do w/ this situation and ND is essentially a member of the ACC. the deal was in place b/c ND would be playing ACC teams every year. If Gonzaga has a huge TV deal for their football team(which they don't have- not the deal or the team) and agree to play Pac 12 teams then you have a valid comparison.
Still can't find Notre Dame football in the ACC standings on any major sports website. They are not part of the conference. You are flat out wrong. You LOST.
That was such an impressive victory by Gonzaga last ngiht. I was really concerned when the Lions cut it to 19.
the only thing that is lost here is you. http://www.csnchicago.com/notre-dame/acc-deal-another-necessary-change-notre-dame Plese move on from this, let's talk about how great the Big East is. How huge the Providence win was, stop talking about something you have no clue about please.
I am getting kindler and gentler in my old age, if you want to feel you "won" go ahead. I can't deal w/ this nonsense anymore. I feel embarrassed for you.
SJU with a great win @Xaiver. Probably off the bubble for the moment. Win at gtown mid week and definitely off it.
Thank god we finally win a game where we dont blow the lead. Sir'Dominic Pointer has to be one of the best names in all of sports.
HUGE win for Villanova at Butler, which is as tough a place to play than anywhere in the country. 31 points for Darrun Hilliard, who put on a show that Villanovans have not seen the likes of since Kerry Kittles!
Has North Carolina beaten any Big East team this year? No. Has a Big East team beaten North Carolina this year? Yes. Oh yes, 1990: when UNLV outscored run-and-gun LMU 131-101 and went on to face Duke in the finals, a Duke team that squeaked by St. John's and UConn (Laettner buzzer beater). That was also the year the Arkansas Razorbacks barely survived against the Dayton Flyers 86-84 before going on to crush North Carolina by 20+ points. Huge road wins by Villanova and St. John's over "the Big East is indeed tough" Butler Bulldogs and Xavier Musketeers respectively. Butler with a crucial double team mistake on Ryan Arcidiacono leaving the hot hand Darrun Hilliard open for the game-winner. Great down-to-the-wire game. St. John's handing Xavier only their 2nd loss at home - big game by Sir'Dominick Pointer. Locally, was invited on Friday night by a friend who had tix for Iona at Manhattan. Lemme tell you something: what a pleasant surprise. Pre-game steaks and martoonies at a local Riverdale steakhouse (Jake's) followed by an insanely spirited tempest-in-a-teacup at the Jaspers' Draddy Gym. Great atmosphere - it was actually deafening at the end of a fiercely contested game between these two little schools with the MAAC frontrunning Gaels edging the Jaspers. I didn't realize that this has replaced the Manhattan-Fordham Bronx rivalry (now that Fordham's in the A-10). Cheap thrills but man that gym was jumping - great game. Iona section vvv
haha, you guys crack me up. The BE is a complete joke. The only team that looks capable of making a sweet 16 is Villanova.
I agree, Butler sucks. I mean, come on, how can you brag about a team who's best win was a neutral site win against UNC?
Junc, What is your basis for saying the Big East is overrated this year? Is there any statistic to support this? Do you feel the teams had a poor non-conference schedule?
