If there's a big package out there for Mariota the Redskins might well be angling for it to start the recovery from the RGIII debacle. There's no reason they can't play RGIII next year while recouping a bunch of picks to fix the depth they lost in the original deal for him. They'd also be in the market for Foles if that was part of the package although another trade to move RGIII on would probably follow in short order. I'm still not convinced Mariota is going to be valued anywhere near that highly by the time of the draft. All he has to do is display an average arm at the combine or in the pro visits and he'll drop down the board some.
On the same token if the Skins feel like the Eagles would be dangerous with Mariota they might think twice about trading to a division rival.
Let's get either. Since everybody can look into the future and see Mariota will suck. Let's go with a poor man's poor man.
Talk about looking into the future. In the 2013 Draft with the 72nd pick in the third round the Jets selected Brian Winters. Next pick the Bucs picked Glennon. Imagine if the Jets passed Geno in the second and took someone like Kiko Alonso or LeVeon Bell, then Glennon. But Geno was the "value" pick.
Fucking awful. People that say oh it was a value pick can suck it, it was the worst value pick I've seen.
Interesting. If Glennon is truly on the block they are cleaning house at QB. Guess when you have the first pick you can telegraph it.
So maybe they are looking at a Glennon/Winston QB team. Would make sense if your in a rebuild mode, as the Bucs always are...
Maybe Tampa Bay is thinking Glennon will keep Winston in line. No self respecting brother wants to lose to Napoleon Dynamite.
Josh MaCown released by Tampa today according to NFL.com. This tells me that Gannon might be shifted to be the "hold the fort guy" for either MM or Winston.
Same thoughts for me as well. I think this just solidified glennon as the number two QB down in Tampa
It of courese makes sense that Tampa releasing McCown means that Glennon will probably stay there, which is too bad for the Jets since I think he might have been the best alternative. But it's not a done deal. There were those reports that the Bucs were shopping Glennon.
