In your linked article: Stickum, an adhesive used to help improve grip, is widely available in powder, paste and aerosol forms. Its use in the NFL was banned in 1981 under the Lester Hayes rule named after the Raiders player known for using it.
It's not illegal if it is only used on the gloves and does not come off and stick to the ball. HOT TIP: You should read the rulebook more and Patsfans.com less.
Yes, the media is stupid and doesn't read - you're not telling me anything I don't know. There is an exception built into the rules (that I posted in the thread) for substances used on the gloves that does not come off. In other words, the powder and aerosol, used on the gloves, is going to wind up being legal (under the current rules), while the paste will not be. This is why the Chargers were not fined (they were using the powder).
why are fing patriot trolls still here you cheated why do you need validation or agreement on the point. Everything since bellicheat took over has a * by it 31 other teams fans think so why are not trolling there boards
They were not using stickum, that's illegal according to your source. Thanks for playing. Notice how none of your friends are coming to your rescue. No one will support you on this one.
I am completely disinterested in public affirmation. I am interested in pointing out when Cheatriot fans are wrong and/or lying (usually both). You're wrong. The rulebook is clear regarding the use of adhesive substances on gloves. You were also wrong in your suggestion that the Chargers got caught using an illegal substance; the league plainly stated the substance they used (the powder) was legal. To reiterate ... you are wrong ... and I am correct ... and until you gain the power to re-write the rulebook, that's not going to change.
The legal substance they used wasn't Stickum, where does it say it was stickum? Hint: it doesn't. Your article does say that its illegal. I'm not an expert on the rules, but I imagine the fact that stickum would stay on the ball means it would be illegal according to the definition. Edit: if you were capable of reading, when I linked the chargers article, I said they did not get fined for stickum. You are outright lying when you say I suggested they were using stickum.
Um ... I never accused you of saying it was Stickum; I accused you of suggesting the Chargers got caught using an illegal substance and was fined for the cover up (which is exactly what you did suggest). You look foolish when you make up a lie that is easily disproven by a prior post of yours (LINK) in the exact same thread. They were not caught using an illegal substance because the league expressly said it wasn't an illegal substance. Just as there is no evidence that Rice was using an illegal substance - he said he used spray adhesive on his gloves, there is no evidence he used it anywhere else and there is no evidence the residue adhered to the ball. Therefore, he didn't violate the rule. I know this because, unlike yourself, I read the rule (and subsequently posted it).
He said he used stickum, jackass. What more evidence do you need? It's illegal. No one is coming to your rescue, in a Jets forum. Do you wonder why? Because you're a moron.
First of all, he used the term "stickum" in the generic sense, just like when I say "Can you give me a Kleenex, I need to blow my nose," I'm asking for a tissue, not a specific brand. He's using the term "stickum" to mean an adhesive substance. Second, even if he was using the term "stickum" to mean an actual Stickum brand product, it's only illegal if it's used somewhere other than on gloves and only if comes off the gloves and remains on the ball. In other words, this stuff (the Lester Hayes Stickum) is going to be illegal ... ... and this stuff is not, unless you have some evidence it was coming off his gloves and remaining on the ball (and that evidence does not, and would not, exist) ... Now, stop being a Cheatriots fan and stop deflecting from and defending blatant cheating by misrepresenting the rules as written in the actual rulebook. To sum up: Patriots deflating footballs below required specifications? Cheating Jerry Rice putting a spray adhesive on his gloves that left no residue? Not cheating.
Because it is absolutely killing them that everyone thinks everything about their "championships" are fraudulent. As if trying to steer the discussion away from the Patriots systematic, methodical and pervasive cheating can undo the stench of it all. On a NY Jet board no less. A bunch of tools, these Pat trolls. _
If these pats fans had any sack they'd embrace the role of cheating villians. Instead they act like pussies and try to justify the pats being scumbags.
And feign a holier than thou attitude as they chastise us for pointing out what the rest of America knows all to well. GTFO of here with that weak sauce. You want to discuss Jerry Rice? Go to the circle jerk that is Patsfags.com or 49erFans.com. You want to talk Partiots cheating? You've come to the right place. _
Yeah Belichick probably thinks he can outsmart everybody. And that every team will be totally paranoid when they play them. So even if they don't cheat everyone is watching all angles to see what they're doing. Advantage Belichick. The thing is they do cheat. And worse yet get caught. Jerry Rice didn't get caught.
Normally, in the course of debate, when a person links to something in an argument, they do so because it supports their point of view. I really have no idea why you linked to this page; particularly when I've posted (in the thread) the actual rule straight from the rulebook.
if it's illegal, but either difficult to enforce or not consistently enforced, you can bet your ass the Pats are doing that too.
Just wanna point out that not all Pats fans here are trolls, I've been around here for several years now and the most I've said on this discussion is "wait for the facts" while linking articles pointing towards guild and towards innocence. I've just found this thread pretty amusing but have abstained from posting much in the past few weeks. Some are obviously trolling their asses off but ignore them, a lot of us like to have actual discussions. The Pats fans here are absolutely foolish to expect Jets fans to not jump to conclusions on the topic as they're our most hated team and we are theirs, its natural to expect the hatred both ways. Doesn't mean that they can't be civil. I really respect those who are also waiting to hear the conclusion of the investigation before picking up the pitchforks and asking for heads. This story has been so crazy as it has instantly painted NE guilty by stating 11 balls were 2 PSI under legal limits to the opposite extreme of 1 ball being ~2PSI under legal limits and that ball happened to be the one intercepted by the Colts, suggesting they deflated it. What happened will probably never be known, there have been so many twists and turns for such a weird story that, truthfully, wouldn't be relevant were it not the Pats who have had "spygate" looming over them for years. Unfortunately for us New England fans, the damage is done. The outcome doesn't matter. *True* football fans will hear the facts and either send NE to their grave or forgive them, the casual fan, which makes up 90% of the NFL will never see anything other than the initial smear-job story which says they cheated. TL;DR - Props to those waiting on judgement. Not all NE fans are bad, we're not all trolls, we're here for legitimate discussions. Don't judge all of us by a few idiots make irrelevant statements "defending" their team. They're just a few idiots.
If I were to visit a pats site and go on about how everyone there is wrong about something, I'd be smart enough to expect abuse. I guess some coming here aren't that smart.
Does ignoring the facts and believing in rumors make you: a) a smart fanbase b) a dumb fanbase Please tick the box that suits you best. Funny how that so-called journalist from Indianapolis who started the whole thing basically backpedaled as much as he could in his recent article. I guess when you ask for death penalty for a team and want the coach to be fired with no proof before the super bowl and base your argument on rumors that were, once again, false, you look like an idiot. If it turns out that Colts are behind that 2psi ball and you STILL believe the Pats cheated, please tick box "b" and never, ever have children.
