While I voted for Goodfellas I think you should have included Snatch on this list, while not a "gangster" movie in the traditional Italian mob sense it certainly would qualify as a gangster movie. Bricktop is every bit as ruthless and maybe even a bit more psychotic than some of the others.

That one gets me every time, going through the baptism ritual. Fantastic editing as the organ soundtrack ratchets it up.

I voted Godfather here, specifically the first one if you count II as a separate film. I've long considered it my second favorite film all time all genres, so it's an easy choice here. You can't beat its dialogue, so many memorable lines.

Listen, whoever comes to you with this Barzini meeting, he's the traitor. Don't forget that.

    Awesome.

I like Goodfellas, but it just doesn't have the heft and flow of The Godfather.

The Departed is in my top 5 movies of all time.

I know I am in the minority here but I was underwhelmed by City of God.

[QUOTE[IMG]="JStokes, post: 3191523, member: 19848"]Yup--and I can't think of them as 2 movies. It's the Godfather Part 1 and Part 2 for me.

Hell today it would have been 9 movies.

Even though I'm a pathetic scumbag loser and all I do is watch movies, I'm embarrassed to say, I've never seen it.

When I say Departed was in my top 5, I don't mean gangster movies--I mean all movies of every genre.
