Yeah that's true. I know all about that but I didn't know that he said that.

Should be interesting if they are penalized for it. See what he does

There are no decent FA Qbs to be had, nor is there any to be drafted

That was my point. But this guy wants a game changer and won't be happy unless we walk away with one. He's setting himself up to have something to bitch about basically.

I couldn't possibly disagree more. Mo's point is spot on. Too bad you can't grasp its truth. Burning draft picks to trade for a stop-gap QB is insanely stupid, especially after Idzik wasted 9-10 of them last year. This team has a LOT of holes both in terms of depth and starting-quality players. While the QB position is key, it would be futile and beyond moronic burning draft picks to upgrade from one level of shit QB to another. Neither Bradford nor Cousins are that good to be long-term starters. Bradford can't even stay healthy. Cutler is an overpaid airhead. Like Testaverde, he has a million dollar arm and a $.10 brain. At least Vinny cared about winning. Cutler doesn't. I wouldn't take Cutler if he paid the team to play for it.

The only QB I would burn a draft pick to trade for is Glennon, because he is young and has shown some talent, and even then wouldn't be willing to give up anything more than the team's 6th round pick.

Matt Moore and Shaun Hill are both FAs, and decent QBs. They are more game-manager types. They don't win games with their arms, but they don't beat themselves either. They're pretty consistent and you know what you'll get with them, average or above average play. Ponder is awful. Locker is athletic, but not a good passer. Jason Campbell is probably the only other FA QB worth considering imo. The bottom line is that as bad as Geno has been much of the time, he may be the best option the Jets have for 2015. As others have said, Moore may be in demand and some other team may be willing to pay Moore a ridiculous amount. Gailey has been able to make chicken salad out of chicken shit before. Geno has talent. I'm hoping that the team will sign either Moore or Hill, but that may not be possible.

Fans need to be more mature, more realistic, and be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day. It's going to take some time for Mac to clean up the mess that Tanny and Idzik left on the roster, and time for Bowles to instill some toughness and discipline into the mess that Rex left.

I understand this thinking, and to some extent agree with it if for no other reason than 4-12 would put us in better position for the draft to get a QB than 9-7. That said, if the Jets get Mariota, they need an older vet to help mentor him, not someone younger that can't help in that regard. The whole idea of bringing in a QB is to compete with and push Geno, and hopefully beat him out. I seriously doubt that Mallet, Locker, Ponder or any of the other younger FA QBs could beat Geno out. I think the only QBs who could realistically beat him out are Moore, Hill, Fitzpatrick and possibly Glennon.

Well I guess that depends upon how one defines "decent", but I think you're wrong. I think that Matt Moore and Shaun Hill are both decent. So is Glennon. So is Ryan Fitzpatrick. So is Jason Campbell.

I was going to say what about Fitz? He's a solid stop-gap. Campbell is atrocious over a multi-game period--please no.

I've said it before, IF we draft Mariota then Fitz has to be the guy. Veteran that knows the system and thrived in it to mentor the rook till he is ready.
