Bringing in QBs to compete against Gee-NO! will put the pressure on Gee-NO!. The problem I have is that what if Gee-NO! brings his A game and wins the QB competition...can he maintain that throughout a season let alone his career? I think that the fact Gee-NO! had nobody to watch and learn is why he sucks. Maybe his luck will change, but he's not too bright when it comes to reading defenses.
Biggest problem I have with Cam is that it seems like every time he gets sacked or even knocked down he looks like Rocky trying to get up in the 12th round. Just seems like if he isn't winning he loses heart too quickly.
Cousins wouldn't thrill me but I think he could be serviceable. He isn't a finished product yet the same way Geno isn't. All 3 of these guys could get better. Glennon has the highest ceiling to me though. Well worth a 4th rounder if Tampa would bite.
if these are the only answers we have for the QB spot next year then we are so screwed - still if 2016 has some decent QB prospects at the top of the draft then so be it.
I'd probably rank them Glennon-Geno-Mallett-Cousins but that's more on "gut" and "feel." I've seen all those guys but not in great samples. I'd like to see us carry three "viable" quarterbacks next year but I don't know how realistic that is, the organization's read on Simms etc.
Well, Smith's defenders may view this as a form of piling on, but in fact there is much to support the notion that much of Smith's problems have been a kind of choking when the games really matter. Each year down the stretch, when the Jets were already out of the playoff hunt, Smith coincidentally showed some improvement. But then we saw moving from the end of 13 through camp and pre-season, when Ryan and Idzik and of course Woody were all saying how much Smith had improved, when the rubber hit the road in the regular season, he sucked. Then, surprise once again when the playoffs were out of reach, he started to play better. Now of course not all correlations establish causation. But those correlations I do think raise a real concern, and if I was on the CS I'd be mindful of it. It's happened twice already. Even going back to before the 13 season I recall people lamenting that Sanchez got hurt, and questioning how having to start Smith might hurt him. But I don't think anyone predicted the absolute shitstorm that he produced in the regular season. At least until the playoffs were out of reach. I also know some will argue, with merit, that the improvement toward the end of 13 was a result of coaching adjustments. But those did not carry forward into 14, so it's hard to make too much of that argument. Bottom line, I'd prefer to not even give Smith a chance at this point. He's already had too much of that and fails to inspire confidence going forward. Let someone else get the chance.
Lol.. that was funny because he was looking like Rocky. But he was hurt in the playoffs taking alot of hits from our guy Bowles's defense in the 1st round.. playing seattle a week later didn't help his cause either... He was getting beat up but fought til he knew it was realistically over.
I'd rather make a lowball offer for RG3 and hope the 'Skins accept. It sounds like he's a lock to be gone: http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fa...ave-rg3-off-of-letter-to-season-ticket-owners
RGIII did well when the Skins dumbed down their offense. When they asked him to put on his big boy pants and play in a pro style offense he failed. The only thing that makes him interesting is that his coach seem to take every opportunity to screw him over so his improved efforts this year were not rewarded. I still think that we are better off with a pocket passer instead of a running QB.
Waldman's right, Mariota is a huge risk if you're taking him to be a great starting NFL QB. If you can get him cheaper and give him time to develop he might be quite good.
Mallett would be a good option, Gailey could do some things for him and it could end up very good or he could suck and never play a snap. What we do know is we have 3 guys right now running the show in Mac, Bowles and Chan who have got it done with not a lot at QB and Mallett has talent hopefully we can play to his strengths(vertical passing) and develop an unstoppable running attack.
I agree, Geno's play improves when the games don't really matter and the pressure is off. The last game of the season is a perfect example of this. Both teams were mathematically eliminated, so it becomes almost like a preseason game, and Geno proceeds to light it up.
It is signficant, no doubt about it. Should the Jets give him yet another season to do the same thing? Imo, the answer should be of course not.
