This is NOT good.... http://nypost.com/2015/02/04/rangers-shut-down-henrik-lundqvist-days-after-throat-shot/ This is about as bad as news gets around the Rangers, at least for a little while. Coach Alain Vigneault announced Wednesday morning that franchise cornerstone and starting goalie Henrik Lundqvist will miss Wednesday night’s game against the Bruins at the Garden while the team was “investigating” an injury related to the Brad Malone shot Lundqvist took to the throat in the second period of Saturday night’s 4-1 win over the Hurricanes. Lundqvist stayed in that game, and played in Monday night’s 6-3 win over the Panthers at the Garden. Vigneault said it was not a concussion and his level of concern is still in flux until “I find out what he has.” “I have nothing for you right now,” Vigneault said. “We’re going to have some information later today that the organization is going to pass on to you.” Lundqvist didn’t practice on Tuesday, the team calling it a “maintenance day,” but he did make an appearance at the 92nd Street Y on Tuesday night with two great former Rangers goaltenders, Mike Richter and Eddie Giacomin. It’s unknown if something happened between then and Wednesday morning. According to a team spokesman, the time frame for a further announcement was “not 100 percent” going to be on Wednesday, contrary to what Vigneault said. Cam Talbot will start against the Bruins, and the team recalled Mackenzie Skapski from AHL Hartford as an emergency backup. Talbot has played in 11 games this season, posting a 4-4-1 record with a 2.15 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage. “Very comfortable,” Vigneault said about having Talbot in nets. “I think the whole team is comfortable, also. After starting his season with I would say an average start, he came through with three shutouts in a row, and has given us a chance in every game he has been in goal since. We’re very confident when Cam’s in goal. He’s a hard-working young man, and I’m sure he’s going to be fine tonight.”
not a good sign that several days later potentially new symptoms have shown up and taken him out of the building
I'm thinking it's a mix between his shoulder still bothering him, and he's trying to do too much (and then trying to overly simplify his game to compensate... i.e. thinking too much) on the ice.
Best game they've played this year. Controlled play from start to finish against an elite team that usually gives them problems. Also really enjoyed Glass cluelessly spinning around on the Lucic goal. Worst player in the NHL never disappoints. Once you can accept the fact he's going nowhere no matter how badly he plays, you almost enjoy watching just how truly horrendous he is.
Kreider is playing with more hustle than I have ever seen as of late. He reminds me of Mike Ricci when he played for the Sharks.
Hey Hackmeister, imagine if Howie Rose called the game? "Brassard!.....Brassard!!......Brassard!!.....Derek Brassard!....and the Rangers have one more goal to score, baby!!" https://screen.yahoo.com/derick-brassard-goal-tuukka-rask-022549132.html
Wow, not only did he score a goal, but he did it with a goaltender actually in net wthout hitting both posts!
