The little kid in me couldn't resist and I just ordered one of these (the Namath 'we're No. 1'). From Amazon.co.uk they wanted £17 plus £13 postage. From Amazon.com it was £10 and £5 postage. I hate getting ripped off in this country...
Can you let me have the link...I finally found one on amazon.com that'll ship to the uk, but it's £23 postage! Cheers in advance. Edit: Found it! Bought it!
Don't have to be a little kid to enjoy these, I'm 56 and I'm getting it...the only one who doesn't want it is the waste of time guy...
Glad I saw your post. I was looking on ebay and they had some for arond £20 with shipping. But this just saved my £5. Almost bought two as I thought I was getting such a deal Crazy that Amazon UK can charge us so much though. This will go sweet with my Old School Namath Jersey.
You are MUCH older than me but as I get older the one piece of advice I can give is don't worry about what other people think, if it makes you happy and doesn't hurt others just have fun. If, as a grown man, you like to collect dolls go for it.
When I went to the Jets @ Cowboys Thanksgiving day game i got loads of shit from the Cowboys fans because of that. As an Englishman I did not even know what they were going on about. But walking through the lot i got a ton of shit for it whilst wearing my throwback Namath Jersey. Next time I go to an away game in the states ill cover up.
You guys look like cleaned house on Amazon.com...maybe there are still some there on that site. Dont worry fellas, there are tons available on ebay
I'm a little surprised there are so many fans on this board old enough to have seen Namath play. I'm too young to have even watched Richard Todd; Kenny O is the first Jets QB I remember watching. ..... but I think it's a good thing to have older people on here, because I'm a firm believer in the wisdom of the older generations. Our society would be a lot better off if we listened to the old folks more and benefited more from their accumulated wisdom. With each new generation, it seems we are getting more tech savvy but losing the accumulated wisdom of past generations. (sorry if I made anyone feel old just now!)
I wasn't even around to see Richard Todd shit the AFC Championship game in 1982. But I like to know my Jets and their history...And how can one not respect the one man with flair, the first NFL Superstar, who had one great run with the Jets including the most important Super Bowl win of all time. Clearly, in Super Bowl 3 Matt Snell should have been the Super Bowl MVP based on production, but if it were not for Namath against the Raiders in the AFL Title game they would never have gotten there. Namath played the most composed and articulate game in his career. He avoided being a gunslinger and that helped us win. I think he had like a 8 minute+ drive that stalled Colts momentum
Well, I respect Namath the player, not so much the man. I prefer the clean-cut family man that Roger Staubach was, versus the panty-hose wearing, promiscuous womanizer with no morals. But as a football fan, I really don't care how players conduct themselves off the field, that's for the broader society to judge and to deal with, as a football fan all I care about is how the players that the Jets acquire perform on the field. If a player helps my team win games, I'm happy. We shouldn't even know about their off the field behavior imo. That's how I see it anyway.
Woke up Monday morning with a nasty sinus infection and a dark cloud hanging above my head after the cheating bitches were gifted the Super Bowl. Ordered this and it instantly made me feel better. It will be delivered today, and I plan to display it prominently in my office, so I can look at it whenever I read a post that shits on the Jets. I'm hoping it helps me find my center - kind of a feng shui thing.
