That was my point. That it is ridiculous to think the league would cover-up any Pats wrong doing after painting them in a bad light to begin with,
Ah right on... It's amazing that considering the money involved in the NFL they are so behind the curve in the main office with just about everything. I think Roger Goodell tries, but just isn't one of those people who can see all the angles... he can only be reactive.
Listening to him talking about Pete Carroll's coaching decision is like listening to a 4 year old talk about geopolitics. His walk back on the deflate gate stuff is beyond pathetic. And forget about this situation, this is just what the media does time after time. They take anything and embellish it and serve it up to the largest audience. There is no lower boundary to the pig they'll throw lipstick on.
Honestly, the "butt fumble" was another example of the media getting carried away ... big fuckin deal, he ran into a dude. That stuff happens all the time.
Yeah but he fumbled. But true, way overexaggerated by the press. But don't try to deflect the real issue here. You can't blame this one on the press. Not even close. Next excuse.
What part of the story that the Patriots' balls were underinflated (11/12) and the Colts' were all to spec do you believe was fake? Is the NFL just keeping this Seinfeld-like investigation of nothing going on for the publicity?
bs sorry but that is a double take. A matter of integrity how many games did they have under-inflated balls and did not fumble.......
How do you know anything about the Colts' footballs? I see people make this argument all over the Internet but I've seen nothing about the PSI of the Colts' footballs or whether they were measured at all. What did I miss? The NFL has given up control of the Seinfeld- like investigation to lawyers, who are happy to bill the hours.
Maybe I'm incorrect but I'm fairly certain everyone in this forum but 2 or 3 feel it's all done and buttoned up except for the severity of the punishment.
Jets have dealt with this kind of stuff (aka the new york media) for years and years. You'll get used to it.
The deflategate story has been silenced through league inactivity. Goodell has proven to be a stubborn guy in the past and has made decisions without understanding the consequences or doing his homework. If he punishes NEP it could personally hurt his standing as Commish. He might lose Bob Kraft as a friend and supporter. And lose 44 mil a year. There is no way they don't have the info they need to make a decision on this. It could have been done two weeks ago. Probably just an admonition, maybe a fine and a change in league policy for handling balls. Or maybe they'll say it is inconclusive against the Patriots (no proof they did it) but somebody did it. And that's a crock of shit. But it would save Roger's ass.
When's the next big distracting sporting event? March Madness? I expect Goodell will quietly announce a through a press release that the Patriots have been fined a minuscule amount (probably the cost of the investigation) for deflate gate at 4:59PM on the first thursday of March Madness. It will get lost in the day's big events and after that big weekend of sports it won't make a ripple in the headlines
Kraft doesn't want to pay a fine because that would basically be saying he's a liar. It's not about the money. Goodell has to be diplomatic (if that's possible) and walk on eggshells when it comes to Kraft and NEP.
That's a crock of shit. If you truly are reserving judgement, major props to you. You're one of the few. Not many seem to understand that, though.
You implied that the result of the games were affected. In reality it's very questionable ANY of the Colts-Patriots games in the Belichick era were affected by cheating on the part of the Patriots. In the 2006 season, which it the only period where the Patriots are actually established to have cheated, the Colts won both meetings. As far as this year goes, if you make the assumption NE tampered with the balls, the Colts are not competitive with NE at all. As the Colts players themselves stated 'they could have beaten us playing with beachballs.' As far as Polian knowing anything during his fit in the press box in 2005, it's pretty unlikely - his animosity towards NE was so great he clearly would have said something. Furthermore he used his position on the league competition committee that offseason to have enforcement of contact in the secondary to be a priority in the league. This became known as the Ty Law rule. Gross conflict of interest? You decide.
All we have that is dependable is that the NFL is carrying out a investigation. All else is leaks and innuendo. Not worth the electricity needed to display this message on your screen.
