You can not take the too aper as.mas.much as pats fans try. He is tied to spy and deflate gate
the great ones don't have that shadow. And to say he is the greatest while that is there and will always be there is a joke and an insult to the Bradshaw'sBradshaw and the Montana's of the world

Minnesota had one good game, they won 4 playoff games all decade. first one in '82 against mediocre Atlanta team in strike season, then 1987 where they beat the Saints in NO's first ever playoff game(they wouldn't win a playoff game until 2000), then the great game against SF and then beating LA in '88 before getting crushed in the rematch at SF.

The greatest defense of this era only won 1 SB too and the reasons neither won another were similar- poor QB play. McMahon was never healthy again and Bal got rid of Dilfer for a #s guy.

they absolutely did- NE, Pitt, Ind, SD, Bal all could have won titles in the Brady era and 4 of them did win.

Joe and Brady are probably 1-2, at worst either drops to #3. good company to keep.

    SB wins:
    Joe 4
    Brady 4

    SB apps
    Joe 4
    Brady 6

    div titles
    Joe 8
    Brady 12

    SB winning drives
    Joe 1
    Brady 3

    title game apps
    Joe 7
    Brady 9

    losing seasons:
    Joe 1
    Brady 0

    missed playoffs:
    Joe 1
    Brady 1

    Really close.

Not year in and year out... the Ravens while good took a little hit when they drafted Kyle Boller, the Steelers had some good teams but they weren't SB caliber year in and year out. There is a reason they drafted high enough to get Big Ben in the draft. SD again not year in and year out. Year in and year out your 1 consistent was New England and Indy.

Starting in 1981 these were the teams that made the playoffs in the NFC:

    81
    Dallas
    Philly
    Giants
    49ers
    Bucs

82 (strike shortened 9 game season)
    Washington
    Dallas
    Tampa
    Green Bay
    Vikings
    Cards
    Falcons

    83
    Washington
    Dallas
    Detroit
    49ers
    Rams

    84
    Washington
    Giants
    Bears
    49ers
    Rams

    85
    Dallas
    Giants
    Chicago
    Rams
    49ers

    86
    Giants
    Washington
    Bears
    Rams
    49ers

    87 (strike season)
    Washington
    Bears
    Vikings
    49ers
    Saints

    88
    Bears
    Eagles
    Vikings
    Rams
    49ers

    89
    Giants
    Eagles
    Vikings
    49ers
    Rams

    90
    Giants
    Eagles
    Washington
    Chicago
    49ers
    Saints

    91
    Redskins
    Cowboys
    Lions
    Bears
    Falcons
    Saints
    (49ers missed at 10-6)

    92
    Dallas
    Washington
    Eagles
    49ers
    Vikings
    Saints

In many of those years you had 4 or 5 teams capable of winning the SB and they were generally Chicago, Washington, Dallas, SF, the Giants many of them all in the playoffs together. Even some of those mid 80's Rams teams might have won the SB had they not had to deal with SF or Washington or Chicago. No way was the AFC of the 2000's with the Pats, Colts and occasionally good Baltimore or San Diego better than that. In many of the years in the AFC barring an upset you had 2 at the most 3 teams capable of WINNING the SB not just making it.

91 and 92 are meaningless, he didn't play those years.

81 really only Dallas and SF had shot
    82 Wash and Dallas
    83 49ers and Wash
    84 Chi and SF
    85 Chi
    86 NYG, Chi
    87 Was, Chi
    88 SF, Chi
    89 SF
    90 NYG, SF

4-5 were not capable in those years, Philly and NO never won a playoff game- how were they capable?

we can say the same thing about the 00s. Maybe the Jets, Titans or SD win a SB if they don't have to deal w/ NE, Ind and Pitt?

I saw Montana play, not enough, not even close.

    Brady 170 - 54. Winning 3 out of every 4 games for 14 seasons.

    Please, stop saying silly things.

You recognize that the board probably has a couple thousand members ... and not one takes anything you type seriously, right?

I'd have Montana number 1, myself. After that, Brady is right there with anyone.

that is just jealousy, go back through time. all teams try to find a way to bend rules. Many teams have done similar things and haven't come close to winning. Tip your cap- great organization led by the best to ever play QB.

A little off topic but one of my favorite Monday Night Football games in which I had no particular rooting interest was a 1989 Rams-49ers game. The Rams led most of the game and were on the verge of putting it away when they fumbled on the 1 yard line of SF going in. A TD there would have put them up by three scores in the 4th quarter. Instead, Montana threw a 90+ yarder to Taylor a couple of plays later to bring the game to one score and they eventually won by 3 on a late TD by Craig. The Rams had actually beaten the 49ers earlier in the year in San Francisco for one of their two losses on the year. I thought they were probably the second best team in the league that year. A lot of people were saying that was the team the 49ers didn't want to face...then they just completely laid an egg in the NFC Title Game.

not a single thing is true.
would never tip my cap to that shady arrogant organization, nor ever consider Brady the best. that's a joke.

more importantly than my opinion tho, is that of the current and ex players around the league.
he'll never be considered the greatest.

most current/former players consider him if not the best, in contention for the best.

The Falcons piped in crowd noise which I believe is worse than a slight deflation in footballs. where's the outrage? where is their SB title?

guess Wiley, Jerry Rice and Ray Lewis didn't get that memo.

others were calling for the asterisk after Spygate....can only imagine what they think now.

Hell even Rodney Harrison feels they deserve an asterisk if found guilty of deflating footballs in playoffs.

Brady is a part of all that. According to John Madden, he's the biggest part behind any football deflations, as it wouldn't come from anywhere else.

That settles it, if Jerry Rice and Ray Lewis want an asterisk then they should have one!

I wonder if Jerry wants an asterisk for the Niners and their headset cheating? or does it only count if someone else is accused?

No way he the greatest of all time. Super Bowl wins does not make you the greatest. It's a team sport and 2 of the 4 Brady won was won by the defense.

I can't call him the greatest simply due to spygate. He is incredible and turns dogshit into gold but the cheating thing is holding me off of calling him the greatest ever. I do think he is better than Peyton.

ok so let's discount the raised eyebrows of numerous HOF players, HOF coaches, and even ex-teammates.

and instead we'll take the word of one Jets fan with a weird and unsettling crush on Brady. the same person who tries this embarrassing thread out every year surely won't have a biased opinion on the matter.

it's been fun, but i can't even entertain this subject any further.
