Agreed, though I liked 3 of the picks: IK, Reilly, and Dozier. I also think Enunwa can become something in this league.

But I certainly think our 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounders could have been a lot better.

Brady doesn't become Brady with Rex Ryan at the helm. I think Brady is an all-time great, but Charlie Weis was instrumental in his development. That spilled over to Belichick becoming a better overall HC. I don't think Weis gets enough credit.

But if the choice was great QB and mediocre FO versus mediocre QB and great FO, I'm taking the player.

Even a shitty talent evaluator can pick a Richardson.

A shitty QB is just shitty.

Rex was responsible for the one great pick of the Idzik era?

    We'll never know.

    He might have been transcendent.

I still think that Brady would have been great even with Rex. Rex isn't "that bad." But a lot of Brady's success is because he's with Belichick.

We took a nickel corner in the 3rd, a shrimp in the 4th and then a guy most people thought was a flat prospect right after him. Then the nickel corner got hurt, the shrimp turned into a head case and the flat guy got hurt. The level of bad luck is pretty amazing but the picks weren't good to start with. They'd have had to play at the high end of their ranges to work out well for the Jets. Just like Vlad Ducasses, Shonn Greene, Stephen Hill, etc. I am so glad our college personnel evaluation process is rebooting at this point. It's been a total joke for a decade or more.

I don't think a great front office picks a shitty QB. They will evaluate the QB properly. I don't want a mediocre FO because we'll be stuck in mediocrity with shitty players around the QB. Just like the Colts right now. Belichick stays with the Jets along with that FO / CS and they more than likely select Brady - that's because that FO was really good.

Brady throws 3 INTs in his 4th start, Rex would tell the OC to stop throwing the football just like he did with Geno Smith. It took me a while to realize that, but Rex really influenced the offense in a negative way. I think Weis deserves the credit for Brady's development as well.

Rex must have had input in choosing Sheldon. Even though Idzik is accused of not listening to the coaches, etc. But the final decision was Idzik's. And choosing the best player in the draft is a lot better than drafting ok players later in the draft. If you hate Idzik and refuse to give him any credit for anything that's your deal. Anyways the guys gone and Mac should get a better press. Hopefully unlike Idzik he returns phone calls.

How much credit should one get when you trade your franchise CB, weakening a position, and draft a stud at No. 13 or was it No. 9? And, really, Richardson is great. But is he better than Revis? Is it a tremendous call to draft a stud in the first round?

I'll give him credit for it. But, it's really faint praise: he picked a good player where a good player should ALWAYS be taken.

Whether he is a bad drafter or not, the important thing is that John Idzick and his cheap ass are gone.

Richardson is arguably the best player in the draft so he's a great selection. And they got him at overall 13. Best player at 13. I'll take that. I thought the Revis trade was a great deal. A first and a 4th for a guy they couldn't sign coming off of a serious injury. Revis wanted 16 mil per season. The Bucs gave it to him and cut him after a year. And their GM and head coach were fired.

You can pick any number of snapshots to close the book on whether John Idzik sucked or not.

    Here's one:

Still think JMO if Mariota is there at 6, If another team is interested we trade down. But I dont know enough of our GM so we will see.

No they aren't. They are born.

Good coaching just reveals the talent.
