I just think he's the best QB in the league right now, but I can see the argument for Brady as well. Rodgers still has a long way to go, but assuming he's stays healthy, he'll have a few more chances to hopefully win another Lombardi trophy. This was only his seventh season as a starter...

Brady career playoff PPG - 27 PPG
Rodgers career playoff PPG - 28.1 PPG

    Brady career playoff passer rating - 88.5, 49 TDs v. 24 INTs
    Rodgers career playoff passer rating - 101.0, 23 TDs v. 7 INTs

So let me get this straight, Brady is better than Rodgers in the playoffs because he leads his team to less points? Brady is better in the playoffs because he is less efficient, throws fewer TDs per game, more INTs per game, and just generally plays the position worse than Rodgers on a per game basis?

Or is Brady "better" because he plays on a better team with a better head coach and his D holds the other team to fewer points, therefore resulting in more team wins?

You have no argument. You think Brady is better based on a subjective belief. The numbers don't back it up. The skillset doesn't back it up. Only team accomplishments do. You have nothing, really. Brady is a great player, let him be. A couple others in this era play the position better. Not the end of the world for the guy, he is still going down as an all-time great.

Brady had 4 SB apps and 3 SB wins after 7 seasons as a starter but I agree Rodgers has time to try to catch him but it won't be easy plus he became a starter year 4 so missed 2-3 years of production early that could hold him back later.

None of them play for Belicheck. Eli is the perfect example of why you shouldn't overrate team accomplishments. Brady is a great individual player in a great situation. Nothing wrong with admitting that. Compare what he does on the field, his individual contribution. He isn't light years ahead of anybody.

I don't even understand why Rodgers "deserves" blame for the NFC CG loss. He didn't opt for FGs on 4th and 1. He didn't collapse late and let the Seahawks score on their last 3 drives. He didn't opt to run the ball on 3rd downs and punt it back to Seattle. He didn't fail to recover the onside kick. He didn't choose not to get the ball in OT. All he did down the stretch of that game was lead his team to a tying FG at the end of regulation. He made mistakes in the first half of that game, for sure. Brady made mistakes in the SB too. However, Brady's coach gave him a lot more opportunities to get something done and put him in a far better position to succeed. Rodgers has his 2nd ring right now if Belicheck coaches the Packers this postseason.

Also, if we want to rank the greatest ever by team SB rings, be prepared to have Terry Bradshaw tied for #1 and Eli Manning tied for #7. That's your argument, in a nutshell.

Brady has played 29 playoff games, Rodgers 11. that 45 in 2009 can skew 12 games more than 28 games.

and here are the actual pts they led their O's to in postseason:

(I took out the Pitt title game b/c he got hurt early)

Brady: 700 pts in 28 games, 25 PPG
Rodgers: 281 pts in 11 games, 25.5 PPG

virtually the same except Brady has 11(39%) 4th qtr comebacks/GW drives in postseason and Rodgers has 1(.09%).

started drives Sea 19, Sea 23, Sea 33 and only led O to 3 FGs w/ that incredible FP. also threw INT in EZ like Brady in SB but Brady overcame and put up 28 pts w/o any help from great FP.

avg. starting FP on scoring drives for Rodgers vs. Seattle in title game: Seattle 49
Brady in SB vs. Sea: NE 31

    By the way,

Belichick was a complete failure as a HC without Tom Brady. don't forget that.

nowhere has anyone said this is all based on SB rings.

I'm judging Rodgers on all time great standards, because IMO he's going to go down as one of the five greatest Quarterbacks in NFL history as long as he can stay healthy. His offense only put up sixteen points, and for most of the game his ball placement and anticipation were off; I realize he was severly hurt, but he had an opportunity to deliver the "knock out punch" and he failed to do so . I'll give him credit for driving down the field in less than one minute, when he needed to tie the game , but he was fairly medicore.

Talent wise, sure. I think Romo is one of the most talented QBs based on the eye test but up until recently he didn't know how to do the little things right. Arod is the same, obviously to a lesser extent

first time post here, got a bunch of friends that are jets fans and love the rivalry.

One thing you all are neglecting here is brady was a 6th rounder, with little physical talents at his draft . Obviously there are going to be many more gifted athletes at his position out there, I could go on for ever.

His intangibles are what separate him, cheating hate aside for a minute.

The guy rarely if ever shows any sign of quiting. He prepares as hard as anyone in the league to make the best of his situation. he can make anyone look good as he plays to their strengths. He is a true student of the game, not lost in the hype that surrounds it.

Guys like manning were brought into this league with expectations of being the centerpiece to whatever team they play for. play calling more about them as they are their number one draft pick and need to live up the hype.

Brady cares about one thing, winning, not any of the Alco lades.

    This is bullshit.

So because guys like Manning and Luck have the talent to go #1 in the draft, they are a step down from a guy who didn't have the talent and had to work for it?

So Manning didn't have to work for it? It was easier for him than it was for Brady?

I don't get where you are going with this. Is this what you are saying?

Brady is excellent but it is irrelevant where he was drafted.

I mentioned the Vikings because they did make an NFC title game and came close to beating the Redskins in 87 to go to the SB, Montana also played arguably his worst playoff game against them (at least one he didn't get hurt in)

The Jets of the Brady era didn't have to deal with 5 other teams in the playoffs that would have won the SB had they gotten there. There is a reason the greatest defense ever only won 1 SB and it's because the NFC of the 80's was so superior to any conference in sports history.

Buddy Ryan was gone as soon as the 86 Super Bowl was over.

And he was there in 84 and do you think guys like Singletary and Dent forgot how to play defense because Buddy wasn't there?

Apparently. They gave up 27 to the Redskins in their playoff loss.

You do realize Joe Montana and the 49ers shut out the Bears 23-0 in the NFC title game in the 84/85 season?

While Joe didn't light the Bears up the defense was essentially the same one that is highly regarded as the best ever just one season? They had Dent, Singletary, Mongo McMichael, Otis Wilson, Dan Hampton.... outside of Dave Duerson and Wilbur Marshall it's essentially the same team on D

And that Bears team finished 14-2 and gave up a total of 187 points in 86/87 so you say they forgot how to play defense because of a bad game? They actually gave up less points in 86/87 then they did in 85/86 so it's debatable that they were just as good and they just played a bad game.

Here's an argument: 9 out of 12 times in the playoffs Brady has lead the team to a game winning drive. that's 75%. Even the SB's where he played average, he had his team in the lead but the other team got the ball last.

I love Rodgers and he's the best QB in the league, but he lacks something. I don't know what it is, but it was clear against Seattle. You mean to tell me that if Russell Wilson throws 4 picks and Seattle gives the ball to the Pats on their own side of the field 3 times in the first half, the game would still be close? Brady could sit out the second half if that were to happen. I still can't believe the Packers lost that game with all those chances. That's where Rodgers needs to put his foot on the gas and end the game, and he didn't even come close to doing so.

But hey, it's just Brady. All he can do now is dink and dunk and throw five yard passes to a 7th round pick against the "greatest defense ever". Funny how other teams don't do that.
