No doubt that'd make for one hell of a receiving core, but he's going to demand more than Mike Wallace a couple seasons ago and they already have a lot tied up with Decker and Kerley and I'm not sure if it's a worthwhile investment
This is a good point. Julius Thomas, Wes Welker AND Demaryius Thomas are free agents so they have some decisions to make. Welker is undoubtedly gone, but I think they'll prioritize Demaryius. Otherwise, who is Peyton going to throw to in 2015? (Hopefully these tough decisions will result in Orlando Franklin hitting the market)
Of course he is going to demand top 5 wr money and is worth every penny. It is worth the investment whenever you can get a top talent. Kerley and decker are good but can't hold DT jock. Doubt it happens anyway
This would be a no brainer. Cut Harvin and use that $10.5 million on Thomas. The Jets would still have $48 million in cap space after signing him. Good players cost money.
Obviously in that case we cut Harvin, but now we NEED to go get a QB. We can't have Geno throwing the ball to those receivers. We have to go out and get someone better.
Rock with Geno one more year...This draft/free agency sucks for QB's... Build the rest of the team and see how Geno does with a new OC... Maybe we get lucky and he turns things around.
I was thinking that too, but I will cringe seeing Geno throw crappy pass to Thomas. Hopefully, if all this comes true, Geno realizes he will never have a better opportunity to succeed in his career and plays decently and without too many mistakes. He's going to have a decent offensive line assuming Mac retools it in the offseason and good weapons to throw to. I'd rather take Geno over guys like Fitzpatrick, Moore, and Bradford. Geno still has way more upside despite his first two years here.
I think once he gets his mental thing under control Geno will be fine. Has to learn to not force things and live another down... We need to run the ball way more this year which will get Geno comfortable.. He needs to be throwing no more than 25 times a game for us to be successful. Need to slowly ease him into this.
People realize Geno is a 2nd round pick who has been beyond terrible as a starter right? There is absolutely no reason to "rock" with him for another play, let alone another year. Any average free agent QB would be an upgrade.
I feel like if Peyton retires Thomas may bolt to play with Decker and we have the money to give him what he will undoubtedly get in free agency. They could franchise him though.
Then you don't bring back Percy. But sure Thomas is an elite receiver and worth the money. He's a power receiver. It will take double digits to get him.
Peyton SHOULD retire. He looked pretty awful in that last game. He has little arm strength left (especially compared to what he used to have), and is basically only a game manager now. He's smart, but he's going to tarnish his legacy if he keeps playing. Denver is not going to win a SB with Peyton at QB. Elway should thank Peyton for his great contributions but urge him to retire.
