Anyone have this or know where I can get it. I was talking to my son about why you never quit and I wanted to show this. Any post or PM to put me in the right direction would be much appreciated.
There used to be some nice CBS highlights things on youtube, some even like 10 minutes long. But I just checked back there and couldn't find any but I'm pressed for time so you might have better luck.
What a great night that was. It was the night after the Subway Series Game 2 Clemens bat-throwing at Piazza game at Yankee stadium, and I attended both. As a Mets fan/ Dolphins hater, that second half REALLY lifted my spirits. With all of the second half touchdowns and it being nationally televised, the game took forever. Most people who stayed through it all didn't get home until 2 AM. Boy was a tired that week after being at both of those games.
That may have been the longest game I ever saw live. w/ that and the WS games running so late that week it was a tough week for sleep.
as much as I love that game it's not quite as great as it should be knowing how we collapsed after that game. Same thing for me w/ Aaron Boone home run a few years later knowing Yanks lost WS.
welcome to the year 2015,We don't need your creepy archives and your dusty VHS tapes thanks anyway, here's the entire game
Vinny had the size and the arm, didn't he? Made too many mistakes, though. Still, he looks better and better after what we've had lately.
There haven't been many more physically gifted QBs in the history of pro football than Vinny. Too bad for him he wasn't around a BP earlier in his career.
when you enlarge it gets grainier but thank you for posting. I was just joking about the postage stamp thing.
thanks so much for posting. I just clicked through and watched from a couple points in the game. What is so amazing to me is that this doesn't seem like that long ago but the game looks so much different. You don't realize it until you watch something like this. At the 1:30:00 ish mark Vinny hits Dedric Ward on a long pass, Ward makes a tough catch and gets immediately gets destroyed by the safety. The announcers go "what a hit! great catch by Ward"- - Ward bounces right up and lines up for the next play. No crying over and over for a flag like we would see today... No "defenseless receiver" BS just good football! I also miss having kickoffs/kickoff returns that actually mattered!!!
That's partially true yes. Unfortunately I am not a mega athlete that gets to make millions of dollars playing a game I choose to play. I'm just a fan of course and didn't have to take that hit. However - Ward went up and grabbed that in my example. That's good football. In today's game 9 times out of 10 in a play like that the receiver would see the DB and "alligator arm" it knowing full well he's going to get the 15 yards anyway. He would still take the lick (subjecting himself to potential concussion anyway) but he would cower to try and protect himself because he knows he doesn't need to catch it and immediately pop up and cry for a flag. The QB would run down the field crying and the coach on the sideline would lose his mind. The flag would be thrown and the defense would be backed up. That's not good football.
guys alligator armed it in those days too, every player is different and guys complained for flags in those days too. I think you are overthinking this to pump up the "good old days". Guys in the 60s and 70s laughed at players of the 80s and 90s for being "wimps", same thing is happening w/ guys pre 00s w/ the game of today. some day this group will tell us how soft football has become but guys get bigger, stronger, faster w/ every generation and the game becomes even more dangerous. They have to adjust the rules especially w/ all the "tough" guys of older generations trying to now sue.
Yeah I expect it to be flag football eventually..with every game's score in the 70s because of all the rules helping out the offense.
