Great question...lol...I think about this stuff all the time. If you can pull it off..as late as possible Monday night and as early as possible Tuesday morning...period. The amount of snow that will fall from lets say 10pm Monday to 10am Tuesday will be historical...so grab both ends is my idea.
Jay, what should I expect in Morris County? Randolph to be exact? Will we get the snow and wind or should I expect less?
I think the important question here is what are the chances I get off from work Tuesday and Wednesday?
its always a weird thing to say jwws but you are on the fringe...lol...of monster and just huge. Winds for there between 25 and 35 with gusts 45 and snowfall amounts between 12 to 18 but right now the border of 18 to 24? Follow my point? Its getting to the point with these numbers..well..reminds of monopoly. Fake money...is there really a line between insane and crazy? I dont think so because you could get 20 easily...but be sitting at 12. It gets real tricky where insane and just crazy meet..and you are in that spot. Hope that makes sense.
It does. I'll expect the worst and hope for the best. I just hope it stays cold so that the chances of power outages stay lower with the lack of wet snow or ice.

it will stay cold, thats a certainty. with the wind its going to feel brutal. what i call tourette syndrome cold. you know, when its so cold all you can do is spout random curse words soon as you step outside

yes..and yes the cold temps will prevent the heavy wet snow...but they come back and force things down..so...help hurt kind of thing.
for me...this is the worst time before a big storm. So you understand there is not much to watch for because: 1. The GFS/EURO/CANADIAN models are all becoming useless to a point. They just do nothing this close that makes you say..hmmmm..ok. 2. The short term models...every hour...are good within 24 hours of the big stuff...so..not yet..but getting close. There is really nothing huge that will come out other then the 930 NAM that would be a big game changer and that model will do nothing except grow closer to the EURO. SOOOOO....Im sitting here bored...lol...going to watch some tv and get some rest..tomorrow we will be most of the night and very early in the morning which adds up to no sleep.
Really looking forward to my morning commute on Tuesday for my 8:00 AM shift! (middle of Connecticut). Staying at a hotel a half mile away that night...even that drive will be interesting...
Thanks Jay, as always. Just got gas for the generator and ran it for 30 minutes. Hope I don't need it. I actually don't use it for heat. I use it for my sump pump because the water table is so high where I live. The cold may mean I don't need power for that for a while, but......
