I think we can all agree that cheating is: breaking/circumventing the Rules and/or doing something to gain a competitive advantage. Could some one here answer my burning question ? There's plenty of cheating going on in the NFL. Not the accused or supposed kind, but cheating that was confirmed by the NFL, violator fined, Team punished. My question: why are the Patriots the only ones deserving of the public lynching ? Here are just a few that never got more than a day or two of coverage: Broncos: 1- Multiple tampering charges. Circumventing 29 million to Elway that was then funneled to Terrell Davis. Illegal videotaping of another teams walkthrough in 2010, under John Elway. Looks to me like he's a multiple offender 2- Illegal videotaping another teams walkthrough, SpyGate Chargers: Ball Tampering- had ( ball ) towels with sticky substance. They refused to turn over the towels to be investigated and tried to conceal them. Saints : Bounty Gate. Cowboys: Salary Cap violations Eagles: Salary Cap violations Dolphins: Manipulated the Salary Cap to obtain Shula as HC. Shula got his Job through cheating. PED Violations: too numerous to list Up and coming cheaters: Browns: currently under investigation for a higher tech " SpyGate ". Using cellphones on sidelines to communicate signals NY Jets: Owner currently under investigation for Tampering Cheating that just got a warning: Hold onto your hats boys and girls: Vikings: heated footballs on sidelines. No action taken by NFL, NFLA said they broke the rules ( cheating ) but they were just given warning. So to all the indignant, holier than thou mouthpieces out there... tell me why these stories never got the play and coverage Deflate Gate is getting. Why are the violators not " forever tainted" in the annals of the NFL ? Why no asterisks after the Teams name that cheated and won a Superbowl. Cuz if they got caught it only follows that they cheated all their existence and continued to cheat after getting caught.
I'm conducting my own personal science experiments to get to the bottom of this and will report back on my findings.
LOL.. Point taken. However, I never heard the word " Cheaters " bantied about. I heard a whole lot of sympathy and outrage at the punishment. I don't hear anyone identifying individuals or the coach as Cheaters. Do you think if they make it to another SB there will be non stop press coverage revisiting BountyGate and reports that ... well.. they cheated before to get there , they must have cheated this time. ? Look, I'm a Patriot fan. Been one 30+ years. I don't care what anyone says about SpyGate or Deflate Gate. Other fans think many of us are idiots, homers embracing cheating as a way of life. I can only speak for me. I will take the name calling seriously when I see another team, individual et al.... held up as the Pariah of the NFL for their cheating ways. Nope not about anyone else doing it. It's about others who have done it,, why is there not the same response and vitriol to others... I'm a big girl, I can take the mass idiocy I see and read. You fail to mention that your coach is pretty much hated by everyone who isn't a Patriot fan. He isn't a likable guy in anyway. He is cheater off the field as is your QB. You know what... I was wrong on that one. They were found to have tampered by stealing Shula from the Ravens. It was a big deal at the time.. but still he is looked at fondly as one of the greats and is a self righteous SOB when he comments about other ( ie: NE Patriots ) No one remembers he got his job from cheating and worked for and represented cheaters. They are not forever tainted probably because they do not continue to pull underhanded shit like the Pats do. Half of what you posted is wrong, some of it goes back 45 fucking years. You put things like Bountygate, Payton and Williams were suspended for the entire fucking year moron. The team was also suspended $500,000. The Vikings were not heating the football on the sidelines. Most of the other teams were penalized already. The owner of the Jets mentioned another player during a press conference and you want to compare it to the things the Pats do, GTFO.
Dude I answered your question.... I know it's hard for Pat fans to comprehend is because people don't like your team because they lack class. The same reason everyone hated the Raiders in the 70's but most people did not hate San Francisco in the 80's but found it easy to hate the 90's Cowboys. It has nothing to do with the cheating it's how you present yourself and the Pats present themselves as some holier than though bastion of sainthood in the NFL but instead deliver the Manson family. So I'll say it slow for you... the reason people pay more attention to the Pats cheating over say the Chargers is because nobody outside f maybe Bronco or Raider fans hate the Chargers but essentially everyone outside of Pat fans and people who bet the Pat fans hate them.
