Well, this latest blog post by Cimini suggests that I may be right in terms of how I interpreted Bowles' presser comments on Geno.

"I've only seen very little of him," Bowles said. "He's got a lot of talent and a lot of promise. Remember, he's only played two years. We're going to get in and look at all the games [on film] and see what he does well. You've got to sit down and talk to him, and get a chance to see him live and in person before I make those kind of conclusions."

Those don't sound to me like the comments of a coach planning on replacing his starting QB.

Maybe, but I doubt it. Rodgers' accuracy, abilities to read the D, mobility, strong arm, and ability to keep plays alive would all have shown in practice.

I just can't see us being able to compete for a championship next season. As much as I want to, I just can't. We have too many holes in too many key areas.

It's not like we are completely devoid of talent, so I understand why you feel this way. I agree that if we can get a few more pieces we could be a legit playoff team.

However, until we get a QB I don't think it matters who we get anywhere else. I say we take Mariota, sit him for a year, and then see what we have.

My bad, I did not think you were referring to a championship, I agree with you along those lines, but I do think that this team has just fixed its coaching issues.

And as I stated above, I do think that if addressed correctly, this team could be in contention for the playoffs next year.

Sounds like a coach who is not familiar with the players on his roster because he has only been here a week.
    nothing more nothing less

those sound to me exactly like the words of someone leaving his options wide open - but we will see soon enough either way.

Bowles was on Joe and Evan yesterday and he said this regarding the offense and Gailey .

Bowles:I'm gonna hand the offense over to Chan but I will try to put my imprint as a head coach on the offense.

He basically is gonna do what everyone always shitted on Rex for doing

The point is Bowles might be the same with the offense like Rex was .......I know that point went way over your small little pea size brain because the word "Rex" was involved

Guess what? Most coaches specialize in one side of the ball. Some people don't get the fucking concept. RR letting his OC run the offense is standard procedure for a coach with a defensive background and ditto for Bowles.

Just like McCarthy lets Capers run the D, Payton lets Rob Ryan run the D, Harbaugh lets Dean Pees run the D, etc, etc.

But Rex really didn't just let the OC run the offense she he forced the dumbass wild cat on them

Sparano is responsible for bringing the failed Dolphins wildcat experiment to the Jets. Rex just let it happen. (or was it Schotty?) Either way, our stupid OC's ran the wildcat and Rex just ignored that side of the ball.

No actually we ran the Seminole under Schottenheimer which is the same thing. It was a gimmick, didn't work most of the time, like most gimmicks after the league has prepared.

I edited that comment you quoted to include Schotty (see above). But you're right, it was a stupid Dolphins gimmick one year that the Jets' offensive coaches copied for some reason.

It wasn't just the Jets. Lots of teams were doing it and still are.

We have had much greater issues than play calling here the last four years imo.

I don't have a big problem with it,Bowles is a defensive guy as long as he trys to get involved over the years and becomes better at offense to then it shoudnt be a big deal.I never had a problem with Rex not being involved with the offense in a maajor way....this is why people hire staffs for all three sides of the ball

the main problems the Jets had in terms of the offense when RR was here were:

    - we never had a good OC when RR was here (or at least no-one good enough to overcome the problems with the QB position) and RR himself was not an offense orientated coach (obviously)
    - our reliance on the running game was largely dictated by the fact that we always have had a bottom tier QB so being a pass first offense has never been an option (but this obvious factor seems to escape people who think the ground and pound was something that we would have focused on even if we had Manning in his prime under centre)

I can agree with this here...

Also, one of the most glaring items is flow. Why is it that the NY Jets just never seemed to get any offensive flow. Almost all of our games were a disjointed mess. One quarter we'd look unstoppable. The next we looked like we couldn't get out of our own way. I know much of that is on Geno but I lost count the number of times they were flying along and in comes Vick or Tebow (depending on the year) for some stupid ass play or a wild cat when it was most predictable.
