I'm absolutely trading out of this spot. Nothing special right there plus it gives Mac more room to work with
I like this idea how far down do you think would be smart ? I like going to 10-12 drafting Parker or white and addressing some other needs.
But it's a sham. No one who likes Mariota thinks he's limited to Chad's ceiling. Your other comparisons are equally ridiculous. I can't imagine anyone letting your comparisons influence them.
I want Winston, however, I have stated this before and I will say again, I don't think either QB is going to fall to the Jets, that being the case, we should go OL, OLB, Ray in particular. If the Jets can get Ray, then we replace Calvin Pace, and we don't have to send safeties on blitzes. With Coples, Richardson, Wilkerson, Snacks, and Ray, that is a pretty devastating pass rush.
It may be one of the worst QB drafts in years, but it would have to go some to top the 2013 draft. I have to disagree. There are two VERY GOOD QBs in this draft, Mariotta and Winston. If it weren't for Winston's character concerns, he'd be the slam dunk 1st pick in the draft. Even with them, with his football intelligence, size and physical talent/skills, he's a topflight QB prospect. Petty's a pretty good prospect too. The sportswriters and idiots who write those reports don't like QBs coming out of spread offenses. That's why they discredit Mariota and Petty.
I like that Dline but I don't know if I could take another d line men in the first round. That would be 4 out of five years , I'm desperate for a WR in the draft.
Shane Ray has to be one of the most overrated prospects in this draft. Yes, he has a quick first step , but he has weak hands , doesn't convert speed to power , lacks effective counter moves or any other pass rushing moves, and he also tends to break "contain ". I don't want anything to do with him , in my opinion , he's going to become a situational pass rusher. If we're going to take an "EDGE" , Dante Fowler should be the pick.
I often agree with you and like your posts, but you're flat out wrong about Mariota. You couldn't be more wrong.
What makes you think Mariota is going to be a good pro QB. He played in a college offense that was all smoke and mirrors he would just hand it off or look at his main WR and if it wasn't open he would run. He will not handle a pro offense he can not make read NFL defenses.
I have Fowler going at # 5. Since the projection is that the player will be as good as John Abraham just assume we are talking about whoever you think is the next best pass rusher with Gregory, Williams, and Fowler off the board.
Who, pray tell? There isn't a decent QB prospect in the 2nd round unless Petty shoots up the charts, and he isn't that good of a prospect. IMO, there are only 3 QBs worth using a draft pick on in this draft, Mariota, Winston and Petty. With the rest, you're just wasting your draft pick.
He played DE on a 4-3 defense at mizzou. So just like coples we have to take a chance that he can play standing up.
hell yeah I'm good with that, trade down, get some picks, draft a top WR. It doesn't get better than that.
Petty was exactly who I was referring to with our second. Top OL in the draft, Iupati, Petty developing with Geno and Hoyer/Bradford battling it out. If you think that's a reach for Petty than trade back in the second but either way you see where I'm going with it. Any qb will look better with a stud OL and Ivory/Spiller
This is where your logic is flawed. You really want to stake your future on "could probably"? Even then, you're talking about being stuck in mediocrity for a minimum of two years and maybe 4-5. There's no guarantee that QB you find in 1-3 years would win right away either. If the Jets take Winston or Mariotta, they don't have to win right away with one of them, either. That's just stupid. You're blinded by your hatred of Mariota. You're making zero sense and your attempt at logic is a joke. You're embarrassing yourself.
