I projected Leonard Williams over Mariota because the Titans and Jaguars already have QBs and will take Gregory and Williams for that reason.

With the Raiders taking Cooper the Redskins (or trade partner) will take Fowler or Ray to replace Orakpo.

This question in reality is really a no-brainer. All of the good top prospects are already gone at other positions. Gotta take Mariota

So Chad had the same Achilles heel as just about every other great QB to ever live?

You know what you're right I'd rather start fresh with Mark Sanchez. That way my life would be so much more interesting wondering when the ball is just going to land safely in the dirt 8 yards from any living soul for absolutely no reason sometimes.

yep, that's the real 'good life'. Not sitting there saying to myself "well shit if the OL does its job and holds steady then the team will probably win the Super Bowl after the next two games. Gee how sad would it be if the OL fucks everything up this year. I'd sure hate to go through all this again next year to see if they can keep their act together next time.

Mariota is this year's Joey Harrington, Blaine Gabbert-type prospect.

There's no good QBs in this year's draft....all reports are saying this is one of the worst QB drafts in years.

He is still an upgrade over Geno (with a rookie salary cap instead of what the Bears are playing).

Do we dare pass him up?

    Interesting thread idea.

To me, you'd have to go with Pennington and get a good QB and leader for your team. This team with him at QB is instantly contending for a playoff spot. Injury woes are the only downfall.

I vote Shane Ray..We lost out on Mariota when we beat the Titans lol, I'm not hypothetically pretending a potential franchise QB is going to be there at 6.
I personally think the Titans are blowing smoke screens with Mettenberger. They like him but it's naive to assume he's the future going forward.
It's like commiting to Geno as our future last season. Mettenberger might've had a better TD/Int ratio but he didn't win a single game for the Titans.
QBs are coming off the board 1-2 book it.

There is a reason that Faneca, Ngata, and Elliot have SB rings.

    They were very good players.

Abraham and Maclin weren't bad either.

Aside from Ngata (unless Wilkerson walks) every one would fill a big need on this team.

I probably should have picked a non-Jet QB.

Pennington gets a lot of love he for a guy that does not have SB ring.

Translation: I don't bother reading your lengthy, thoughtful posts anymore because I disagreed with you once in the past so I just ignored everything else since then. lol

That's beside the point. The question is: do you draft a good reliable QB you can win with year in and year out over an All-Pro pass rusher and the answer should be a resounding yes to that. The QB will have a bigger impact on the team than the pass rusher. He handles the ball on almost every offensive play.

If it was easier to find a quality QB than to find a great pass rusher there might be an argument for not prioritizing good over great and a pretty strong one at that. However it's harder to find a a quality QB because those guys never get free of their original team if they are real quality. Pass rushers go free all the time in veteran free agency. Jason Pierre-Paul and Ndamukung Suh are both available at this point. So is Justin Houston. When was the last time a QB who threw 35 TD passes the year before hit free agency? There's a big sacker with equivalent numbers available most years in the NFL.

If you want playoffs in 2015 Pennington is the easy choice.

If you are more patient a pro bowl LT, OG, OLB might make more sense.

So that's what we're looking for?

    At 6.

    To upgrade over Geno?

This poll is getting worse by the post.

Yeah, that's a different story. Chad was a very good QB until he got hurt and still really good after that for the most part. I'd sign up for an injury-free Chad as the next Jets QB no problem. Then you have to go out and get the defense that can help you win when the opposing defense is smothering the offense. That happens to the best QB's as well as the guys who are just really good too.

The point I was making is that maybe just maybe you should pass up the QB.

Real translation I've only actually noticed your posts the last few weeks probably because I didn't post or read much this season but now every time I see the Jesus cross light picture I know I'm going to read something dumb or off the point at best. It hasn't failed yet but I'll keep at it and keep you apprised!
