Harris was an asset in 2014. But Cro a liability in 2013. I'll take Milliner over Cro any day of the week. Same goes for Harris. Take him over Cro, too. If you let him walk big problems on run defense. Unless you get an equal or better replacement.
He's younger and better. I bet if you asked Bowles the same question he'd give you the exact same answer as would any Nfl GM. My opinion I know but I'd take Milliner any day of the week over Cro.
he's not a bust. i don't think he'll be great but I think he'll be good. 3rd year is usually a charm for the good DB's so we'll see..
He's a tackling machine but can't cover and the defense has gotten steadily worse since he took over playcalling duties from Leonhard. I saw somebody say that he was a top 25 middle linebacker like that was something to brag about. Maybe if there was 100 Teams in the NFL. Let him walk. He's only going to get worse and he was never that good to begin with. This is a good draft for ILB.
We have to start letting go of the players who A) want huge paydays against average performance and B) are old and slowing. There's too much average on this team.
It's either this year or next so it's no big deal if he walks this year. There should be a number of avenues to provide adequate, cheaper stop gaps without sacrificing much production. And that's worst case scenario and assumes that the position can't be upgraded for similar or less money. Harris has been a good player on this team for a long time, but he was never a great player and his effectiveness is going to start really diminishing within the next year or two. He's a huge liability in coverage, time for both sides to actively pursue parting ways.
What I was thinking was tag, trade and the team that wants Harris would sign him to a deal ... all that shit can be negotiated prior to the trade ... I just want some value if he leaves. Obviously the cash is too much.
I don't see any great necessity for Harris next year. He is better than ordinary. But he is not a force.
Got to let him go get his ring before he gets that Mo Lewis cap killing retirement contract. Reasonable offer, or thanks Hitman, I wish you luck in the NFC.
absolutely re-sign him. he won't get crazy offers in the open market. 2yrs 8M should about get it done.
I dont think I would pay David Harris more than the vet minimum to be honest. We can do better at that position. If he wants to come back on the cheap, fine, if not, i'd have no problem going younger at that position.
I see what you're trying to do, but yeah that wouldn't work on multiple fronts. forgetting the high cost of a tag for one moment, nobody would trade for a player of his caliber thats about to hit free agency. it'd be a real dick move on the jets part actually to try and spin him after giving him a new deal, "gee thanks for making me feel wanted guys…" the jets could gain return value on harris via compensatory picks though, assuming they lost more free agents than they brought in.
Realest post I've read in a while. I'm a fan of Harris, but we can't spend an excess amount of money on him at this stage in his career/our future going forward. Great tackler, but way too slow for his own good.
