I thought it was a fair assessment. Anyone with a working brain can tell the turnovers are what screwed us the last two years under Geno.

Is he supposed to just pump his tires?

The only issue is the notion that we had a D good enough. Our D was NOT good enough, they were close in 2013 but a disaster in 2014. IT got masked by the problems of the O.

This report will make Geno so upset that he will only throw 2 interceptions in the 1st Quarter against the Bills this year, instead of 3.

Geno Smith's two year performance just triggered an entire regime change. That's not his fault per se, the Jets put him on the field in the circumstances he played in and left him there when he was failing, but to ignore the fact that he was a bad starting QB in 75% of his starts doesn't really work.

If I'm David Lee I probably pass over the question without much comment but I completely understand his frustration.

Lee probably isn't wrong in some regard but to act like it isn't his fault that Geno and Vick and Simms(3 QBs) didn't do anything when given their chances is silly. It falls on everybody for when a group of guys, no matter how talented or not, don't show improvement.

Lee's sole job is to prepare his QBs and for Vick to play the way he did shows that Lee did a poor job this past season.

Neither Vick nor Simms did anything in their chances.

Geno got benched, its on Lee and the coaches for not having a capable backup to Smith or for addressing glaring holes like the OLine(It took an injury for Winters to leave the lineup) or WR core. For Vick to say he didn't prepare correctly as a backup in an indictment on not just Vick but on Lee too given his job is being the Quarterbacks Coach and to make sure that never happens under his watch.

The headlines are worse than what he actually said and it's probably all true...

BUT it certainly doesn't strike me as a very smart comment.

A position coach publicly ripping the high-profile player for that position on his way out? Especially for something that isn't related to being lazy or criminal.. the kid works hard just isn't good.

What is his next QB going to think? or a FA QB? The QB/QB coach relationship is one of the most important ones in the league. It's not a good look for him to rip the QB on his way out. Even Rex who puts a lot of feet in his mouth knew not to say bad things about the Jets players/geno smith publicly.

Lee should be worrying about his own problems and that's EJ Manuel or whatever washed up Vet they bring in.

Vick shouldn't have required much coaching at his age and with the amount of playing time he's accumulated over the years. You don't spend as much time with the veteran backup as you do with your young players. Once Vick got on the field he looked very much like an aging player stepping down, which is not that surprising given his age and injury history.

Matt Simms is a different story. For some reason the Jets have a 3rd string QB who never played well in college and has performed poorly in the limited chances he's gotten to play for the Jets. Backup QB's are the guys who couldn't cut it as starters but have some real potential. They're the guys who started in the NFL but got old and now are just collecting a check as they postpone their move into whatever comes next. Occasionally they're guys who got drafted but never really got a chance because sometimes that's how things work out in the NFL. Nobody keeps a UDFA who was not a good QB in college and who hasn't shown much in his limited attempts around as a backup QB. It's a waste of a roster space. It makes it less likely that you'll suddenly strike gold when the guy(s) in front of him go down. In short, I'm not sure why Matt Simms is on the roster but he's a symptom of what is wrong with the Jets right now.

Rex desperately wants to face Geno twice next year. Desperately.

Gailey and Geno would be a double whammy for Rex.

There's a simple answer really. Abyzmul is in charge of deciding who the Jets backup QB, and only the Jets backup QB, will be via secret lifetime appointment to the task.

I have a practice squad question. Do guys stay on PSs from year to year? Meaning if a player was on the PS this past year, does it mean they are automatically on the PS the next year?

Everything he said was true. I like this quote the best, which actually came from Rex Ryan. Shout-out to those who think a QB that never took snaps from under center is not an issue.

Geno sucks though, it's going to be even better for Lee when he works with that crap that is EJ Manuel. Far worse QB IMO.

Geno never should have been playing in 2013 but the GM wanted him to and that sham competition took place until the real starter got hurt. Hurt us short term in 2013 costing us a chance at the playoffs and long term w/ the development of Geno.

He spoke the truth, even though the article was not all about him bashing Geno, he spoke the truth.

Geno is going to be out of the leauge in 4 years, the jets can't get rid of him next year because he will still be under contract.

As soon as that contract expires they will give him his walking papers, he sucks, he had a couple of good games in 2 years and has not gotten better.

I believe David Lee tried to fix him, but the truth is he is a second round pick that was given an opportunity and it did not pan out, it's ok, these things happen.

100% agree with you on this Junc. I really wanted Mark to be the starter in 2013 - maybe we win with Mark maybe we don't, but all questions in regards to Mark would have been answered that season. That move hurt us short-term and I think to an extent we are still hurting with that decision. We missed out on several QB prospects in 2014 that could have been an upgrade for us.

absolutely, if Mark failed again like 2012 he's gone and Geno has been learning from the sidelines. it set the franchise back. Geno was forced into action and he wasn't ready which really hurt him and the team.
