That sounds like a reasonable trade. It's not going to cost us what it'd cost Philly to move up. Oakland or TN or Jax are not going to want to be drafting 20th.

If Oakland can get two firsts plus more from Philly I think they'd jump on that.

If Amari Cooper is sitting there?

I doubt you'll agree, but even if Cooper is sitting there Oakland isnt turning down at least 2 additional first round picks plus more. This Philly trading up thing could all be smokescreens, but I doubt Oakland is going to turn down all those picks.

Thats the vibe I've gotten from the fan base as well.

Oh, I don't think Cooper is worth the 4th pick in the draft because there are 4-5 other receivers you could get later on that may be better than, as good as or 90% of Cooper--but some folks here want him at 6. It's crazy but if Oakland is as in love with him as some folks here--I think they'll think long and hard about dropping down to 20.

I agree, though, they're taking the bounty for the 4th pick.

i agree trading with Oakland and Jax are the keys for anyone landing Mariota.

if big Cags thinks he's the guy, then forfeiting a 2nd round pick is not too steep to take that chance. I'd be onboard with that move.

and this means anything from a team that just recently trotted out Blaine Gabbert as their opening day starting QB for 3 straight seasons?
When you like many QB prospects as you tend to, it does dilute the stock of your opinion a bit. When you like QB's that turn out to suck, it dilutes more. When one of the guys in your hate column has a better rookie year than any of your loves, it dilutes even further.

If my memory serves me correctly OAK took back less to nothing in return for the 3rd overall pick in 2013 which the Fish used on Dion Jordan. They just really wanted to get out of that spot.

Last year was the FIRST year in a decade I've like more than 2 QBs.

And I only like 2 this year and none next year.

And my man crush was over THREE QBs out of 20.

And I don't do second guessing--I didn't like Glennon and I think Bortles will have a much longer and much more successful career.

Quite frankly, Glennon has surprised me at how relatively well he played.

Glennon was touted as a better qb than a lot of the qbs taken in that draft, I'm not surprised one bit by his level of play. I think that the NFL is just not developing guys the way they are supposed to either, the coaching, for all the experience that a lot of these guys have just seem to be dropping the ball with the players.

With the exception of guys like McCarthy, Belicheat, Norv Turner, Kubiak, now Gailey, how many coaches are actually good at developing these talented but raw players on offense or defense?

Don't mean to derail thread, but I think any trade, hinges on FA, if it goes well than we should stand pat and take BAP. Big Mac even mentioned it today, that he believes in using the draft to develope long term succes.

I agree with that pre-draft assessment but I still didn't think he was very good. Hence my surprise.

I don't think anyone on here, on either side of the argument is really realizing just how bad of QB play this team has had for the last 4 seasons. I mean historically bad, that last season was the only 4 win season out that stretch is amazing. Any type of upgrade, even slight, especially with a decent cutdown on turnovers would do wonders for this team. I have no idea what the answer is, but legit any type of even slight upgrade will make a huge difference to the entire team.

So your hopes and aspirations and plans for the future of our franchise is that we somehow find a slightly less shitty QB?

Mangolden Showers already said this, but the fans "love" Bortles because he's not Blaine Gabbert - one of the worst QBs ever. Gabbert easily one of the worst QBs, I've ever seen. It's funny because Gabbert sky-rocketed up the draft just like Bortles.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Only reason Bortles was popular is because Mariota went back to school. Jags are a bunch of idiots to pass on Bridgewater / Carr. Imagine having Bridgewater / Carr AND Khalil Mack on your team. Jags suck. Speaks volumes about Gus Bradley and David Caldwell.

Gabbert doesn't have anything to do with Bortles' skill set. He had good moments and bad rookie moments but he wasn't terrible. The fans liking Bortles is a positive, a plus. It's not the end all be all as to whether a qb will be successful or not. Having support from the FO and fans is a good thing. Like I said, he'll be their future if he continues to improve. He's not terrible, kinda early to make that statement on him.

It has nothing to do with their skill-set I agree, they just suck. Flat out awful. Anything Bortles really did was when the team was down like 14+ points.

You think that Bortles and Gabbert suck. Ok. I don't think that Bortles is terrible. Yeah.

Never saw anything special in Bortles prior to the draft anyway. Certainly wasn't worth a first rounder. Gabbert is in a whole nother universe in sucking.
