This. NE is the benchmark, whether you like it or not. Our road to the Super Bowl goes through NE.

How is the AFC is wide open? Pats just blew the Colts doors off this game & the Broncos are in disarray. Except for the Ravens, I doubt Pats fans are worried about any other AFC teams next year.

    Yup...and it sucks.

But, I think we're a little better and closer than people think.

BUT, Alas, without an upper level QB it doesn't fuckin' matter.

    Nevermind elite....Sigh...ugh...barf...o_O

I've been trying to understand this "wide open" path the OP referred to myself. The Colts didn't even belong on the same field yesterday with the Pats. The Patriots might as well had been playing Purdue.

While I understand the hate for the Pats, I don't understand how people continuously underestimate just how good they really are. Woody's ego in letting Revis get away just made Belichek's defense championship calibre.

Even getting away from the Patriots, we don't have the horses yet to run with any contender in the AFC. We can hang with the lesser teams and stay in games with the big dawgs until the 4th but at the end of the day, we will lose because we're just not that good yet.

The AFC is NOT wide open. At least as far as the Jets are concerned.

It's wide open in the sense that you only have to get by one team. No 3 stages of hell like we had in 2010 (Manning-Brady-Roethlisberger).

You could still have to play Big Ben/flacco/ -- luck and then Brady. That still isn't a cake walk whatsoever. Let's even throw rivers in there too.

Stop settling for bottom of the barrel QB play. Stop turning over the ball a zillion times.

Build a good enough TEAM to compete with those other teams.

Jesus Christ, when is everyone going to let go of Rex? Big shit, he had us ready for the Patriots. They have been in the playoffs the past four years and the Jets have not. Looks like BB got them ready for every game. I have no use for the Patriots, but I am not impressed that our coach got them up and well prepared for a rivalry. Get the ready for every damned game. Funny, we had no talent, but he managed to get them up for those games. Enough already!

Oh good golly gosh the Patriots won't just shut us down next season and I'm sure you aren't just trying to play the savant in expectation of a weak schedule or anything.

    Get real.

Anyone hoping to see the Jets topple NE anytime soon pretty much saw that pipe dream go out the window. Or front door as it may be.

The AFC is not wide open next year by any means. Pats, Ravens and Colts all stand in the way of that status and it's not even clear the Ravens are the best team in the AFC North, just the team that has to be beat to win the division.

I hate how when the pats play the jets i never see a team that should be under the bright lights on the big stage. We HAVE to sweep these guys to win the division...it's the only way.
