Meanwhile back in NE: @JeaneCoakley: RT @bkravitz: Breaking: A league source tells me the NFL is investigating the possibility the Patriots deflated footballs Sunday night. JETS tampering = 25k fine JETS Tampering against the Pats = 2015 2nd & 3rd round pick, 6 players and lifetime Lamaze membership at the Atlantic Health Center
I don't think the Jets will get docked for much of anything for these charges but it just shows how much of a goon Johnson is. The one guy who should be aware of tampering possibilities is the owner. nice work woody
That's interesting. I was watching Andrew Luck throw those wobbly ducks last night and thinking that the weather must be much worse than it seemed to be to produce that. If they find that the footballs were actually deflated I think they have to retire Belichik at this point. Cheating at the level the Pats have cheated over the years is a crappy way to represent the sport.
I have a hard time believing anything will come of this as far as picks. it was pretty clear watching that PC what he was talking about.
I know both teams have to bring balls, but I think the home team is responsible for the game balls. I could be wrong and NE should be punished if that is the case but Indy didn't lose b/c of it.
No, Indy did not lose because of this. Still, it's a bad look for the NFL if their world champions are caught cheating, especially as repeat offenders. Not good for business.
Yeah so since this isn't the Deflate-gate thread, I'll get back to the OP topic. Has anyone theorized that it was not the Pats but Rex Ryan/Buffalo that filed these charges?
Seriously how is someone PUBLICLY saying "I'd like X superstar player back on my team" really considered tampering? The response should be "no shit, so would everyone else"
Each team uses their own footballs on offense. so deflating your own footballs gives you an advantage over the team that didn't. IIRC during the game, there was a delay while the ball was replaced. Mike Carey said it was because they had to take the kicking ball out of play. Maybe he was right ( low likelihood there -lol) and there is nothing to this or they were actually taking the deflated ball out of play. BTW, the kicking balls are differnt than the game balls. Less slick surface IIRC. Maye they're slightly less inflated also, but I'm not sure.
Only if both teams were playing with the same deflated balls. Belicheat is a master of cheating who's to say what ball was changed and when. After all is was played in NE. I don't put anything past them especially in their home field.
