BB is not so smart. He is supposed to act like a HOF Coach....what is his problem????? Its not enough to have a superstar QB and stacked offense and defense you need to pull this s--t??? Guy must be paranoid and insecure. Wearing the hoody 24/7 projects his real personality: crook lol. All those past years I thought his attire meant "former ball boy makes good-hits jackpot as coach" Boy was I wrong. He will lose tons of respect over this one if it is true. Kraft should tell him: "don't do the crime if you can't do the time"

"This is why I signed with the Patriots -- to play in these big-time games and the obvious reason, which is the Super Bowl," Revis said. "Everybody stuck to our team goals, and now we actually play in the Super Bowl."

Revis found the 'right' home, no doubt about it.

As the NFL looks into the question of whether the Patriots removed air from footballs used in Sunday’s AFC title game, one conclusion already has been reached. Per a league source, several balls were removed from play for being underinflated.

The inflation (or lack thereof) of footballs is checked before each game, and the balls are periodically tested during each game.

According to the source, it’s “not unheard of” for a ball to be removed from play for an abnormality noticed during the game.

In this case, given that “several” were abnormal, the questions become: (1) how did it happen?; and (2) was it deliberate?

    The investigation is ongoing.

I'd like to hear the opinion of our Patfan posters. IF an investigation uncovers a calculated effort on the Pats part to illegally deflate the balls, what do you think the punishment should be? Shouldn't it effect the superbowl since that would mean they cheated in the game to get there? Should they even be allowed to play in the superbowl if that's the case? I doubt the NFL would ever forfeit the AFCCG for them but maybe they should. At the very least I'd think BB should be immediately suspended and removed from the team like Sean Payton was from the Saints after bounty gate.

Personally I think it's unlikely that they will find evidence to support this but if they do, the punishment should be severe.

    League confirms ball-deflation investigation

So much for the Colts-Patriots game being not nearly as intriguing as the Packers-Seahawks game.

Via Bob Glauber of Newsday, the NFL has confirmed the existence of an investigation regarding whether the balls were properly inflated in the AFC title game.

Rule 2 of the official NFL rule book requires that each team make “12 primary balls available for testing” two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff. The home team must make 12 backup balls available, and the visiting team may bring another 12 backup balls for games to be played outdoors.

Several years ago, in an effort to prevent any doctoring of balls used in the kicking game, the NFL adopted a rule that six new, specially-marked kicking balls would be used for each game, with the boxes opened by the officials two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff.

All balls remain under the supervision of the referee until they are delivered to the ball attendant shortly before kickoiff.

The existence of the investigation, as initially reported by Bob Kravitz of WTHR-TV in Indianapolis, suggests that the referee failed to properly check the specifications of the balls, the referee didn’t properly secure the balls before they were given to the ball attendant, or something happened to the balls after they were given to the ball attendant.

Like Revis actually cares who he plays for. He cares about 1 thing: money. He won't be on the Pats next year unless the Pats give him a lucrative offer. He is shoving it in the face of the Jets because we were supposed to bow down to a guy who held out twice and let him take whatever money he wants.

has anyone confirmed the NFL is investigating this, other than the Indy reporter?

if it is true that the balls coming from only the Patriots sideline were deflated, that would look real bad on the Pats.

would require a concerted and prepared effort, to either swap out previously inspected balls with altered balls, or systematically deflate them marginally enough to be undetected and unnoticed in process.
a whole lot of risk for a small competitive advantage.... reeks of arrogance, which is why i believe its plausible and consistent with past transgressions.

You are either being naive or intentionally obtuse.

Or just a typical New England Redneck.

new report in: Goddell has already had the balls destroyed

lol, seriously though, if the home team provides the balls, they keep them after the game no?
if the footballs are in the Patriots possession, this will be hard to prove, and Goddell will conveniently sweep under the rug. He doesn't need a cheating allegation to interfere with the money making machine the Super Bowl is.

i just hope an official found one during the game, and had it put aside for investigation, in the officials possession.

its been a bad year for the NFL and Goddell. What a way to cap it off with cheating allegations.

Enough of the bullshit, this team is always attached to scandal.

Deny their playoff eligibility for the 2015 season. That's how you handle it. Strike one was spygate. Strike two is this. Advance the punishment this time.

Sure, the 12 mill had nothing to do with it whatsoever.
