Bowles likes to blitz and need we press coverage from our corners. It was evident that this year cornerback was by far our biggest weaknesses on D.

    What are our options?

Dee Milner and McDoo will hopefully be healthy and look to be an upgrade on Walls and Wilson.. BUT we still need a true #1 for Bowles system to be effective.

The draft isn't particularly deep with corners but there are a few that interest me in Waynes and Collins.. I would spend a 2nd on either but not our 1st.. And I doubt either can step in and be a true #1.

The FA list isn't very deep but a few guys like Maxwell and Cro could help out team!

A trade would be interesting.. The Bengals are a team that is real deep at corner and might entertain a trade for Kirkpatrick for example.

Bottom line this position needs to be addressed and it will be interesting to see what Mac does here!

You have to give Milliner a chance to grow into that spot. He was the #9 pick two years ago and the Jets need him to be their #1.

Signing a vet #1 just means the Jets will be in cap trouble again if Milliner proves worthy of a #1 contract in a year or two.

The worst thing Mac can do is depend on Milliner and McDougale to be healthy.

He needs to go into this offseason thinking that both will not be ready Week 1 of next season. If they turn out to be healthy then cool. But neither can be given that "number 1" or "number 2" job.

We need 2 starting caliber CB's. Maxwell and Cro should be brought in and the rest of the guys can battle it out for #3

We're gonna need a slot corner as well with Kyle Wilson's contract expiring.

And what happens if Millner gets injured again? At this point you just can't count on the fact that he's gonna be healthy for 16 games. If he goes down its gonna be a repeat of this season

    Need to sign a #1
Need to sign a #2 veteran hold the fort type guy (Cromartie)
Milliner cannot be anything more than a #3 until he proves himself
Williams/Walls/McDougle/Late draft pick can round out the rotation

Not exactly, slot corners require specific skill sets as far as quickness and burst, a guy like Darrin Walls would be routinely beat trying to man up in the slot.

I say we bring cro back for a year maybe two if the money is right. and draft ifo ekpre olomu from Oregon. he is going to fall in the mid-late rounds due to his recent acl tear. we seen that a corner can overcome that with revis.. before the injury olomu was considered the #1 corner in the draft. I think he would be a great target. he can play corner or safety.

going into the season we would have Cromartie, millner, mcdougle, olomu, williams, walls.

If Cro is available at a reasonable price he wouldn't be a bad guy to bring back given that Bowles is familiar with him and knows how to use him.

If Milliner proves out he's going to be a $10M guy in a couple of years. You can't sign a cap busting contract with another #1 that precludes the possibility of keeping our own #1 pick from 2 years ago if he proves out. If you're going to make that move you might as well trade Milliner first while he retains some value as a #1 pick because as soon as you bring somebody else in you're telling the NFL that Milliner is damaged goods and likely not a #1 CB and his trade value will plummet at that point.

    Some quicker linebackers wouldn't hurt...

I assumed you meant slot/nickel when you said #3.

Milliner has very little trade value at this point - the only thing he is proven is that he is injury prone.

That's not true at all. He's got fairly substantial trade value as a young CB who most of the NFL scouted just two years ago and who has had an unfortunate injury early in his career. There are lots of teams out there that would like to put him in their system, which they'll consider him to be better in than the pants on fire press blitz that Rex runs.

He certainly looks like he has the man coverage skills. He stays tight to his receiver, has the height and speed and is aggressive at stopping the pass and does not mind a tackle. Where is he projected to be drafted?

Marcus Peters is the best CB in the draft and can step in and be a #1 early in his career. He might be available early in the 2nd. Like Winston, most of his negatives have nothing to do with what he does on the field.

If we could sign a Culliver, Maxwell or Cro and be lucky enough to grab Peters in the 2nd, we'd be in business.

He blew out his ACL few weeks ago so it's a toss up where he gets drafted.
