Just by current contract value. For purposes of my list, Players $3 million per season and above are Tier 1 and those below that are Tier 2.
I debated about adding Gresham but didn't because he'd probably want to start, and with Amaro, didn't think the Jets would look to add anything other than a #2 TE. I was a huge fan of Cumby's potential, but he has been disappointing. I think it may be time to move on. I wouldn't have a problem with their signing Gresham at all, just think they have greater need at QB, FS, OG, CB, ILB and OLB.
Id like to keep Harvin around too, just not sure if he wants to be that "screen/gadget" kind of player. Cant remember the article, but there was some question as to weather him being relegated to the screen and cross game in Seattle was some of the reason for is displeasure. It would be interesting to see how Chan mixes up the Decker, Harvin, Kerley rotation while mixing in a much needed big play receiver. While i would just say Kerley is the odd man out, Harvin's medical history makes it hard for me to feel good about going into the season with no depth behind him.
I was just curious. I'm alright with him going at this point. Harris has been a solid player for the Jets, but he's not going to be worth what Buffalo will overpay for him (in my opinion). If he came back cheap, I agree, he should stick around. But, it's about time they move on. Houston is going to get franchised if he doesn't get resigned, so I think that one might be a pipe dream anyways. None of us know how agressive this new FO will be, I hope it's a little more on point than Idzik was. I am all for Iupati/Franklin, Shaun Hill, Maxwell/Cro, and I wouldn't mind Moore to lineup next to Pryor. If the team can renegotiate Harvin some (7-8/yr), I don't think they need to spend on guys like Cobb or Spiller. Under Gailey's offense, Harvin could flourish under a similar role that Spiller enjoyed a few years ago. If the team is all in on Thomas, then that's it for Harvin. However, the competition for a D. Thomas will be fierce, and there his salary could fill 2-3 holes.
i want every fan that wants to trade wilk to go kick rocks this isn't the nba, players don't get traded like that. sure i know everyone will give revis and percy harvin as examples, but those are different circumstances
I read something similar. He just needs to be convinced that he is what he is! Ultimately, being that dynamic player is what got him paid to begin with.
This thinking has been in the minority in this thread at least. Wilk isn't getting traded. He's still under team control for another season, and he can be tagged the following season. No reason to trade him, just get him done long term and try to make it cap friendly. Hate to say it, but I bet Sheldon Richardson will be much harder to resign when it's time. He's already on record saying he plays solely for the money.
well that's just not true. the guy literally started crying after they lost a game saying " i didn't get drafted to lose game" his motivation for playing at a high level when your team is like 2-11 is "the all mighty dollar", which is fine
Here's what I do Our Own Players Re Sign Snacks,Ellis and try and Bring Harris back on a two year deal Release Chris Johnson Try to restructure Harvins Contract if he's unwilling cut or try to trade If Harris doesn't come back Sign Rolando Mclain if not then Larry Foote (Cardnials) Byron Maxwell 1st option,Second Cromartie,Revis if he becomes available would be 1st CJ spiller 1st option,Second Ryan Mathews WR Make a Play for Randal Cobb QB:Trade for Mike Glennon or sign Hoyer Mike Upati or Clint Boiling G to replace Willie Colon Take a serious look at Justin Houston Take a Serious look at Rahim Moore Saftey As far as the draft goes its to early to say
It's true. I heard him on a radio show say it's nice to win, but ultimately it's a business and it comes down to the money. So playing on a losing team sucks, but he's still getting paid. No guarantee he's going to leave, but I feel like Wilk is more of a company guy at the end of the day.
PASS RUSHER : JUSTIN HOUSTON CORNER : CRO & Kareem Jackson OLINE - Mike Iupati LINEBACKER - Sean weatherspoon or bruce carter S- Rahim Moore
Phillip Adams, CB - bring to camp Nick Bellore, LB - nice backup and special teams player.. resign Willie Colon, G -cut John Conner, FB - bring back to compete with bohanon in camp Jermaine Cunningham, LB -cut Leger Douzable, DE - re-sign Kenrick Ellis, DT - re-sign David Harris, LB - re-sign (if he is going to stay at a reasonable price) he might want to cash in with buffalo Ben Ijalana, OT -cut Dawan Landry, S -cut Bilal Powell, RB - re-sign (good blocker and backup) Tanner Purdum, LS - re-sign (need a long snapper) Greg Salas, WR - bring back to compete in camp Michael Vick, QB -cut Kyle Wilson, CB - thank god he is gone! Damon Harrison, NT - lock him up! Jaiquawn Jarrett, S - re-sign (same position and college as bowles, he has potential maybe bowles can bring out the best in him) restructure harvin's contract, if he is unwilling cut him or trade him cut: calvin pace, chris johnson Other Free agents: Cromartie - As we all know he has already shown interest Spiller - Upgrade over CJ2k S. Vereen - if we don't land spiller we should take a look at Vereen. great pass catcher out of the backfield Matt Moore, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Matt Flynn, Hoyer -- some sort of veteran qb to compete address the o-line, defensive back, and outside linebacker in the draft. also if we get a shot at someone like petty grayson ect. in the later rounds grab them and bring them in for the quarterback battle.
if we get an offensive lineman in FA shouldn't it be a tackle and move giacomini into guard? or big problem is breno playing tackle
the first thing we need to accept is that a handful of players from the cardinals and Texans will follow their bosses here and end up on the roster. the new rookie regime will first go for their players just like mangini, ryan, and every other young coach/gm does. that will cut into some of the available cap space, but only a small dent..... OL, OL, and more OL.......I expect 2 new starters along the OL - in fact their better be 2 new starters.....bar none. I think iupati went to Rutgers so he may want to come back east. It will cost an arm and leg but so what. we need him, case closed. give me another G/T in may and roll with that. other names I find intriguing would be LB reed from houston, OT reid, and TE clay, and of course Cromartie.
take care of Wilk. Resign Snacks, douzy, Jarrett, fake revis, Ellis, bellore. Possibly restructure harvin Free agency I'm spending most of the dough on O line and the holes on defense Sigh Hoyer to a 2 year deal. Gritty game manager. He's the cream of the crap. I've seen mallets name being brought up a lot in here., please no - he sucks. Sign Iupati Rahim Moore and Byron Maxwell are the top targets for the secondary. Bring Cro back also. RB one of Helu, Vereen, Spiller. All explosive backs with good pass catching skills can fill same role. Helu will be the cheapest. TE bring over Housler from Ari. Cameron may be affordable coming off the injury riddled season. WR Andre Holmes. Very underrated outside receiver. big tall fast good hands. Will come cheap. go after a linebacker with what's left Draft we'll be in good position to BPA. I'm taking Jameis, if he's not there then Cooper, if he's not there then OLine/LB/trade down
I would bring back Douzable, Powell, Salas and Ellis if Bowles likes him and thinks he's going to turn into a good rotational player.
