http://overthecap.com/player/percy-harvin/1554/ I'm no cap guru, but I would keep Harvin at 8M / season. Add another guaranteed year and use bonuses to lower the base salary. He's a good fit for the Jets right now - Gailey likes to run 4WR sets. Decker, Harvin, Kerley, Rookie
This is the direction I think we should take. Our offense has been neglected for far too long, we need starters and depth across the board.
I just took a look, and it doesn't look good. The OGs on FA look a lot better. Perhaps leave Brick, sign Iupati or Franklin at OG. I still think Brick will restructure a bit, but he does appear to have some leverage.
Buy a time machine and go back in time before last year's draft. 12 picks and no WR and no QB in two massive years for both positions. Fucking Idzik. _
The QB market could take time to develop. So I don't feel like it's something that is going to be done right away. None of the names blow me away, do you have one that really sticks out? I INITIALLY felt like Locker could be a decent fill in, and then I saw the Jets kill him and I changed my mind. I'd also wait to see what happens with Bradford, but all those guys have me walking on egg shells just waiting for the next big hit to knock them out.
Yeah I don't LOVE Locker but I think he can be a perfectly competent game manager for a year. Ryan Mallet. Austin Davis. Also guys I could get behind. Bradford is probably the most talented but I can't see him playing a full 16 games ever again. We might get only 5 games out of him. _
Bradford is super scary, the most boom or bust out of the potential list. If I'm looking at ceiling guys with potential, I'm taking a chance on Mallet. If I don't love anyone, I'm looking to pickup Shaun Hill as a place holder. I've always kind of liked the guy, and he would be pretty cheap. Another name that's a potential for obvious reasons (Mac and Gailey) is Fitzpatrick. Not sexy by any means, but it is what it is. The market isn't fantastic.
haha yeah, I gagged a little when I said it. I was merely putting 2 and 2 together. It's not going to surprise me though!
Cromartie or Tramon Williams? Cro could be an affordable option that knows Bowles' system. I didn't follow him last year, did he rebound? Or was he generally the same as '13?
It hasn't happened yet. But if we start paying 11-13 mil for Wilk... Some want Revis and Cro back... We need a balanced team, not a stud defense with nothing spent on offense. I like our D lineman, they are beasts, but I don't wanna tie up 40+ on them.
So you would rather have Wilkerson walk, and fill him with who? He's a top 5 player at his position, you don't let those guys walk out of the building.
Not very inspiring either. Plus his head doesn't look like it fully fits into his helmet--looks weird. _
He's always looked 10 years older than he is, that is for sure. I'm not inspired by any of these names to be honest. I'm just wary of spending on guys like Hoyer or Moore, when you can get similar production out of someone like Hill for far less. None of the FAs are game changers or the long term answer; so I can't see spending an exorbitant amount on any of them. Highest ceiling = Mallet (I'd say Bradford, but he's not actually available yet) Best Value = Hill (Weird head and all, I think he's just as good as the rest of the class of FAs for less) Move I see happening = Fitzpatrick (His connections with GM and OC could land him the gig)
