It seems like everyone is in a hurry to "trim the fat" so to speak. Why? We are swimming in cap space! There is no rush to free up more if it will leave us short at a position. Until we have an heir apparent groomed and ready to go OR if the need for cap space somehow arises - why are we even having this conversation?

I prefer TJ Clemmings over Peat.

I'm not saying it's not smart to start to replace an aging veteran. But some of the decline may be due to the absolute dreck starting next to him...A LT is supposed to be on an island, not having to cover for or worry about B-gap vulnerabilities.

I think that LT is Brick's only position. The idea of his playing RT or OG is laughable to me. He's a barely passable run blocker. His play has steadily declined. I think we have to keep him for 2015, but barring a complete turnaround in his play in 2015, he should probably be gone by 2016. I think we have to add his successor in this year's draft. His cap hits are just too high, especially for his level of play.

Peat's HC said that he thinks Peat has a good chance of being better than Jonathan Ogden. I don't really want to spend the #6 pick on our future LT, especially if Mariota, Cooper or Ray/Gregory are still there, but wouldn't be upset at this point if he was the pick.

    +1,000,000

Along with Melvin Gordon he is my favorite player in the entire draft.

Brick is not the mauler we need at RT.

If we move him LG is the only other position I could see him playing unless he slims down to play TE like he did in college.

We have not had a mobile left guard since Faneca left.

He'll probably stay for 2015 because it's doubtful the Jets could find anyone better. After the Jet re-sign Wilk, some of their other FAs, sign a FA QB, OG and maybe Justin Houston, they won't have that "mad" cap space. Unless his level of play improves significantly, I can't see his being here in 2017, and probably not 2016, I don't care if he's making only $1 a year.

Brick has been up and down, but so has the team as a whole. Before we cut bait, I'd like to see what the new CS gets out of him.
We can still look for his replacement, but it doesn't have to be a day one starter.

I think he's going to jump up draft boards like Greg Robinson did.

And greg Robinson sucked this year

Peat is the better lineman and the only one the jets should take if they do take one at #6. He is well coached, he has the bloodlines, he's got great size, can play both RT or LT in this league..

The only reason he's staying is because we won't find anyone better, but that's not saying much. Ferguson has played terrible the past few years. Pass rushers fly right passed him. Can't block for shit anymore, too slow.

There is nothing wrong with taking an OL with the number 6 pick, if Winston and Mariota are gone, I would like the jets to select Peat.

I feel they can address the LB position with the 2nd round pick.

We have to keep him we don't have another option at present and left tackle is essential.
