All the Geno bashers will be sad to hear that Geno is a great fit for Gailey's system and there is a great likelihood he is the starter next year.
Wait, it's not like we're bashing Montana for one bad game, Geno has been horrid so far in his career. Chan's system requires quick accurate short passes, that has not been Geno's strong point, in fact that is Geno's worst game. I do think Chan can make Geno a better QB, I just don't know how much better he can make him.
we are all allowed our opinions, I grade QBs differently than most. I'd prefer to have him over what we have had the last few years but I want a QB that isn't afraid oft he bob games. as far as the other argument, comp % does not equal accuracy. comp % and accuracy are 2 very different things.
It may or may not be. If the Bucks are winning with the #1 or #2, there's no reason to go with the number three. Meyer has not been known to change QB's easily so Jones is still third. As soon as they lose, though, their fans will be rioting for their championship QB. It looks like he's said he's staying in school but what would help his development more, being number three in Columbus or being number three on an NFL team?
I love how the Jets brought Pennington along. Chad sat for more than a year because Vinny could still play at a high enough level so he could watch and learn. If anything, the rookie pay scale keeps teams for throwing rookies into the fray right away because they're not making ridiculous money anymore. This regime has a honeymoon period that will allow a rookie QB to sit for a while, should they draft one in the first 2 rounds. IMO, Geno has a clean slate, it's up to him what he does with the opportunity. This FO has to bring in a vet that can still play and make it a genuine QB competition - let the best man win. From what I've seen, neither Winston or Mariotta is ready to take over the reigns of an NFL team yet...
For Chan Gailey you need to be accurate.. Geno is FAAAAAAAAAAR from it.... Get that asshole out of here.
I want a rookie QB for the sake of the excitement. He (Jameis or Mariota) would probably be developed wrong by the Jets and end up a bust....but it's fun watching them play at first. It's kinda like opening up a present and you have absolutely no idea what it is. At least give me something to watch Jets. If I have to stare at Geno or Brian Hoyer or some lame-ass QB next season we already know sucks...then I guess we will have to wait for another house cleaning.
But staying "away from a project" is potentially foregoing our franchise starter for the next dozen years and a guy who could make us competitive year in and year out. We're not getting a franchise QB in free agency, drafting a developmental guy in round 4 will mean we'll have a great backup in 3 years and there is no one in the 2016 or 2017 draft anywhere near his talent. Could he bust? Could he be just a jag? Absolutely, but probably not. But in my view, the WORST you're getting is a Kaep type player and I think most folks here would take that and his upside is a better more mobile stronger armed Matt Ryan and his ultimate upside is Aaron Rogers like. Is he Rogers? No. But he could be. He's gotta sit though. 2015 doesn't matter--it's what he becomes in years 2 through 15 that intrigue me. _
contrary to what his actions might lead you to believe, winston is not a complete dolt ... everything ive read states that he does well in the classroom and the film room his main issue is maturity
I wasn't referring at all to Winston in my post--I believe BOTH Mariota AND Winston will be top flight NFL QBs. And I've heard he's very good in the classroom but even more importantly, his football IQ is massive. I was referring to that mythical inferior talented dolt that folks here prefer to draft because they've taken a few snaps from under center as a 20 year old against other 20 year olds. It's as if that meager experience ALONE catapults a lesser talent over an exceptionally gifted talent. Folks are too concerned with coming in right away to play or the arc to get on the field--as if some crappy QB playing in a "pro-style" offense in college leaps over Mariota because of some insignificant experience. Let's concentrate where they are as 21 year olds--not where they'll be as 23 though 35 year olds. It's silly. _
I do not want a rookie qb. Im not a fan of geno by any means but he does have potential with Gailey. I would put money on the Jets signing Matt Moore. He got his last start with Bowles being the head coach in Miami. Moore wuld excel in gaileys system and in my opinion he is a hell of a quarterback/manager.
This might not be the year to go after the franchise QB. If you dont like a guy, dont just draft one cause you dont have one to begin with. If you take Mariota your investing it least 3-4 years in him. Why take that chance if you dont think he's going to be any good? Kaep is one of the better QB's to come out of systems like that College. Some of the other ones are guys like Blaine Gabbert and Jake Locker. What if we get that guy? My point is just that its a risk.
just getting back on the site after years of being off. Going to do a lot of mocks, offseason posts and do a lot of info from the combine. Can someone give me a like so I can start posting threads thanks!
Yes sir, its been maybe 3 years now. Have a new email and do not remember my old account unfortunately. I will be posting often on here. Wont be doing any bashing so hope for the same lol.
