Still gives me chills to watch! Greatest night as a Jet fan I've ever had. Gotta love Rex in the end zone lol.

Great night but ruined by the complete failure of the next week. I've never forgiven Rex for his team coming out so flat in the AFCCG and it boggles my mind that anyone can say his teams always come to play.

    God I'm pissed off now

That coming out flat was all on RR--he could have continued the "we against the world" thing but bought the phony respect lines from Tomlin. He should have stated that the Steelers don't respect us cuz why should they? They have rings, do you? etc. IMO

should a coach need to fire up a team playing for the right to go to the Super Bowl?

    Yes, after beating NE.

But the point is really empirical: the jets were not fired up--if they should have been or not is academic.

Do you agree that Tomlin put them to sleep?

I was the only person at my job that was confident that we were going to beat the Pats. Me talking shit the next day felt good. I still have the star ledger from the day after that game.

Is it not the HCs responsibility to ensure the team is ready to play? It wasn't one or two that weren't ready, it was team wide and that falls squarely on the HC. Sickens me to this day that they lost because they were not ready. The better team did not win that day.

To bad the Defensive Genius couldn't get his vaunted defense to show up the following week. Or run through a wall for him, or something.

But at that time--who amongst us DIDN'T think that that was the next step in an upward arc to reach the next several SBs?

I never looked at that team as a one-and-done, last chance ever for our franchise, once again to fade into the abyss type team.

I saw a team compete in the 2009 playoffs, get better in 2010, beat Indy AND the Pats in the playoffs only to lose to a better team--Pittsburgh--paying our dues as it were-- that was going to continue to improve the next year and be the class of the AFC for years.

That loss was tinged with a lot of excitement about what the future held.

And then like a Steven King novel, it all went to shit with the turn of a page.

plays like what? coming unblocked and getting a sack? he did very little for us.

don't forget the pre lockout rules, we lost Jay Feeley b/c of that signing and while Folk has been great in recent years he was not in 2010. Luckily it didn't cost us but it could have.

I felt confident we could beat Pittsburgh in the AFCCG. We did it earlier in the year and after beating the Pats, I thought the team had all of the confidence in the world.

That AFCCG loss stung for years. Couldn't stop thinking about that loss. It was a complete heart-breaker. To me, I thought 2010 we were actually going to win the SB, so I had higher expectations that yr. We had a complete team on both sides of the ball. We won close games, it felt like destiny.

Fucking hate the Steelers. Worst part was we beat ourselves. Couldn't stop the run, couldn't get off the field.

I don't know how anyone who watched that live can disregard Rex's contribution to the Jets. That was the most excited I've ever been to be a Jets fan. Sucks that it fell apart the next week, but that night, that was special. That feeling is what being a football fan is all about.

Taylor had a huge tackle for a safety that was instrumental in the win in Pittsburgh after they lost to Miami the week before. Without that play the Jets may have missed the playoffs. Taylor was one of the good professional players that we lost after that year that started the slide.

again, unblocked. If not one blocks him I like him.

Never came close to reaching a title game w/ talented Miami teams. Leader of one of biggest choking D's in NFL history. Does not have a single postseason sack in 7-8 postseason games.
