I didn't say they HAVE come off yet. I'm saying if they DO come off, let it be known that it started with Brassard.
Steve Zipay@stevezipay22 hrs22 hours ago NHL announces Isles Halak, Pens' Fleury as All-Star goalies to replaced injured Howard, Rinne. Halak is deserving, Fleury is an indication of much love the NHL has for the Cindies....laughable, arguably one of the worst goaltenders in the league
I agree, personally I wish Tavares and Halak were not selected, after JT got hurt last year in the Olympics I was devastated. As far as the wheels coming off, it's not going to happen, road trips are hard for these teams, then you add the home teams elevating their game against the top teams. I'm happy when the islanders come home 1 game under .500 from 7 or 9 game road trips. Rangers will be fine, my main concern is not road trips or a couple of losses in a row, it's injuries. That will crash and burn most teams that don't have 2 great players.
5.7 mil a year? Crazy. Hackett, thx for the Brassard 'buttfumble' gifs (painful as they are to watch-what brutal 'hands'). And it seemed like it carried over to the team last night. "wide!....wide!....missed the net!....wide!" And Eric Kreider, please.....that boarding of Soderberg was Brad Marchand-type b.s. You're better than that.
I really do believe that fans, especially on this board, are making WAY too light of how much damage that single play is going to do to that team this season. Discipline should have been taken against Brassard to send a clear message that such low quality play has no place in the NHL, nevermind this franchise.
The only thing that going to negatively affect your season is injuries. Brassards play is a blip in a 82 game season. You don't think he feels terrible for that missed chance? His teammates and the organization are there to lift him up, not crush him after he is down.
Shit we are still playing catchup to everyone in the eastern conference...Everyone has such a great record
"Marchand wasn’t penalized on the play and Brassard stayed in the game but, afterward, the New York forward expressed displeasure over the jot. “It’s just like you go to the corner with them and you go shoulder to shoulder, but he brings his leg in the back, and I felt like I had a slew foot there,” said Brassard, per CSNNE. “I don’t want to find any excuses about it. I don’t want to be crybaby or anything, but it could’ve been dangerous, and it could be a game changer.”" Kinda like hitting the post on a net without a goaltender from two feet away?
Your comments on Brassard's issues reminds me of former NHL referee and longtime Ranger color commentator Bill 'the big whistle' Chadwick's comments on Ranger center Gene Carr whose 'hands' he once once described thusly: "Gene Carr handles the puck like a cow handles a gun." Carr was a great skater, he just could not hit the net. Chadwick once criticized Carr, saying Carr “couldn't put the puck in the ocean even if he were standing off the edge of a pier.” Carr was later traded to the California Golden Seals and scored a goal against the Blueshirts in a game at Oakland that Chadwick was calling. "I thought you said Carr couldn't put the puck in the ocean," play by play guy Jim Gordon said during the broadcast. "Well," Chadwick responded, "it's a bigger ocean out here."
