Andre johnson and darrelle revis are window treatments and wallnpaper. We haven't even finished pouring the foundation yet.
i hope we use our money to lock up wilk and snacks and add a qb than see where else we can upgrade.

I think Ryan Fitzpatrick is going to be cut by the Texans, and if so Maccagnan and Gailey will bring him to the Jets to compete with Geno. It just makes too much sense. He knows Gailey's offense, has had some success with it, and at 32 years old has a few years left in him.

agreed on Wilk, Snacks, and adding a veteran QB.
we'll still have a shitload of resources after that is done.
To me, the offensive line and corners (especially in an aggressive defense), is also part of that foundation. That is where i invest.

there is nothing outside of getting lucky in the draft that is truly going to upgrade the qb position in 2015 so if im the gm i look to upgrade everything else on offense to try to hide the qb position at least in 2015

get me demarco murray and plug him in with chris ivory to have a truly elite rushing attack to lean on

and keep percy harvin and bring in another reciever who has size to be a redzone option

also id take a chance on a qb like jake locker on a cheap deal

You don't have to sign the top ranked guys at each position to make a difference. Pay snack and Wilk. That should be steps 1 and 2.

i agree, but throwing top dollar at 30something stars isn't the way to do it.

And I like Iupati, but he's gonna command top dollar and is a run block specialist. I'd rather spend slightly less on Orlando Franklin.

Iupati and then Scherff in the first round. Cowboys did it right, beef up OL and any QB\RB will look better. Ivory would have led the league in rushing if he had the Cowboys OL. Then add Spiller (get rid of Johnson), restructure Harvin (if he bolts add Gordon or Thomas), add a DB in the draft plus a vet and hope Milliner or McDougal can ball.
Throw in Hoyer or Bradford and it's game on for 2015

I'd keep an eye on Denver. If Peyton retires I could see Thomas leaving and his BFF is Decker. He'd be a dream signing but you never know. Very interested in what the new GM will do with Harvin and with Brick's big cap number.

all things considered, if Gailey is indeed our OC, we're good at WR and TE. Decker(X), Kerley(S), Harvin(Z), and Amaro(Y) should work just fine. that staff, amaro and Harvin in particular, could fit that O like a glove. it makes me think we don't need to take a chance on anybody else that will reasonably be available, as is we've got a bunch of weapons hitting their prime in a favorable O.

RB could use a replacement for CJ though. Spiller is an interesting option…

that said the most pressing need on the team from free agency is CB. Kareem Jackson, Cro, Perrish Cox, and perhaps Tramon williams and byron maxwell are all possibilities. we need tenured vets there badly.

Gotta get Kyle Wilson inked asap! So, so, close to his teammates, and such a great guy! Just Kiddin' HAHA

Seriously: Gotta get a stud DB, that leads by example, on and off the field.... Not named Dewan Landry, btw. On top of Cro even if he comes back.
Fuck Wilson, and bye bye Landry...

We have a bunch of young guys back there, but we don't know what they are yet.

Gotta get a guy to lead them into battle, by example. A true stud Pro Bowl kinda guy

not sure why you're dissing Landry.
he was our best DB the last 2 years running, and by far. he also is a leader on and off the field.

he's no pro bowler, and is past his prime. but he is smart, consistent, a leader, and comes cheap. all teams need players of that description.
i'd certainly be interested in signing him to another 1 year deal.

of course, i'd like to add a stud DB in addition.

    generally i agree.
I'm not interested in Andre Johnson or even Larry Fitzgerald for that reason.

when talking Revis though, he is 29 (won't turn 30 till July).
according to PFF, he was the top rated CB in 2013, and 4th rated CB in 2014. He is not showing signs of age, and doesn't have significant injury history.

I think he's got at least 2-3 years of top CB play left in him, and will play a lot longer than that (even if he transitions to S at some point, a la Woodson).
He takes care of his body, and works very hard at his craft.
I'd have no problem with a 3 year deal.....just a matter of how much it will cost.

Compare that to a younger guy like Harvin.
significant injury history, team chemistry issues, and not a whole lot of impact on his past teams.
i can't justify keeping a guy like that over a more impactful player, simply because he is 3 years younger.

    Get:

    Antonio Cromartie
    CJ Spiller
Jeremy Maclin or Eddie Royal or Torrey Smith
    Mike Iupati

    ...and I'm happy.

As for this sort of wish list question, I can't go much beyond saying the Jets should try to get Cro back. Because first there are a lot of roster decisions with last year's players to be made. Big decisions seem to be looming regarding Ferguson, Wilkerson, Harrison and Harris. I say that assuming the Jets will not retain Wilson, Pace, Colon and Babin. And somewhat less pressing issues seem to be what to do with Coples and Ellis. Then there's Harvin, which I assume will depend on whether he ends up willing to accept less than his current contract calls for.

But the main thing I hope they do is not an FA situation, but a possible trade for Cutler.

Seems like some progress in dealing with the foregoing must be made before a real wish list can be generated, imho.

The GREAT news is after an embarrassing 2014 season, the 2015 Jets will look completely different. It may be a transition year where the playoffs could be a long shot, but the team should be much more enjoyable to watch. Free Agency, the draft, training camp, all will be much more enjoyable this year. It has honestly been a brutal last 3 years for Jets fans. This week has been a breath of fresh air. Love it!

I understand where you are coming from, and have optimisim about the new GM and HC. But as far as looking forward to the coming season, I am afraid it will all be about whether Smith is still the starting Qb or not.

Even with there being SOME chance he will improve, I simply think the odds are so much against that, I will not want to go through the process of trying to be optimistic about the season. That optimism comes easier to some around here than others, obviously. But for me, optimism about Smith? That's a bridge too far.

And if the new GM and the FO are not able to come up with a better alternative at Qb, then my optimism about him and them will be much attenuated as well.

Bowles is a secondary man that's why I liked him more than Quinn. Bowles will help millner mcdougle, pryor, and jarrett a ton. Cromartie will 100% be back. He loves the jets and he loves bowles. Also I think we sign Spiller and Matt Moore.
