I back reality not perceptions of fans who need a scapegoat. I am fine w/ him being let go, the new GM deserves to bring in his own staff but this notion that Bradway did a bad job or was bad for us is completely false. we were w/ them for a couple of seasons, couldn't sustain it. Lacking an elite QB doesn't help. what about Miami?
It's not Super Bowl or bust year to year, but over the course of 15 years, yeah one would be nice. And you don't need the best QB to win a Super Bowl, that's been proven two years in a row now, and the Giants have proven twice with Eli. You need a good QB, no doubt, but if the rest of your team is stacked then you really only need one in the Top 12 - 14 or so.
he helped put us in position to compete for AFC titles. we were a missed kick away from title game in '04, we made 2 title games in '09/'10. we had chances. the giants got a ton of breaks w/ Eli, they played Favre who handed them the game, they had a ball stick to a helmet, they had an obvious fumble overturned at SF in the '11 title game. there was very little difference btw NYJ '09/'10 and NYG '07/'11 other than a break here and there for NYG and against us.
Yeah, and we thanked him for that, THEN. And if you think that the Jets were a mere "break or two" away from being a consistently successful franchise...Well, I just can't disagree more!! We're GOOD LEADERSHIP away from being a successful franchise. Hopefully, we have that now.
break or 2 from getting to the SB. you do realize the great Giants have won playoff games in only 3 seasons since 1994, right? they have made one postseason app since 2009 but they had some breaks, won those SBs and people forget.
Sigh... People forget that you had breaks. Fans DON'T forget that you haven't had a home playoff game in forever!! Or that you haven't had a skill position pro-bowler in...how many years? Seriously, why are you arguing with the faintest of praises: we're close to being good. We aren't the worst. Your fanhood is the worst: low expectations!!
Terry Bradway was not fired as GM. He resigned, big difference. And even he was fired (which he wasn't) he was still kept on by the same people for cause as well. They have not mostly been talent deficient under his watch.
do you think not having a home playoff game has anything to do w/ Tom Brady in the division? BY FAR the best QB of his generation who keeps his team at the top year after year after year but let's ignore that. The giants wouldn't have made the playoffs if they played in the AFC East either of those SB years.
Thanks for clarifying: the man KNEW he was not GM material. I give him credit for that. And, of course, you can't blame Bradway entirely for the talent deficiencies on the Jets. But, to me, the Jets have failed miserably in consistently unearthing NFL quality talent. My case in point: the OGs. Neither of these guys, Winters or Abushi, is a masher, an athlete, and one really had deficient technique. It shouldn't be so hard to unearth a freakin OG should it? And then there's Stephen Hill: he had measurables, but absolutely no football technique. Did he have a good grade? I'm sure he did. But a REAL talent evaluator says there's no evidence that he's a good football player (because there really wasn't: he hadn't caught a ton of balls in college). And, of course, a real GM doesn't take that chance with a 2nd rounder. These are the deficiencies in leadership and talent evaluation that I hope we don't have any more.
The NE Patriots are inflated in no small part because the Jets and other teams in its division suck sooo terribly. Like this year: the Jets SHOULD HAVE beaten them TWICE. But because of the talent deficiency on the OL they couldn't get a FG ATTEMPTED. NOT MADE!! They couldn't get their FG past the LoS!!! TWICE. Hell, the three fifths of their line that sucks, two of them are FAs. The other fifth, the first drafted guy sucked so bad he was graded the 2nd worst in the league. the other guy was better, but was (apparently) graded worse by the Jets talent evaluators. and your speculation about the Giants is based solely on your need to defend your argument, no factual basis exists. And, you know what, I don't give a fuck about the Giants. Don't give a rat's muthafuckin @ss about other team's success or failure. I care about the NYJets!!
No they are not, they would win any division annually. You act like they don't have good non div records every year.
Name a WC from the AFC East in the past 4 years! And PLEASE stop saying "would" in your arguments. Cause you never actually support these speculations with any evidence. You don't know what NE WOULD do because it's impossible to know.
so what?Buf, Mia and NYJ were all in the hunt at least once. it's not like we were all 1-15. so you can speculate saying Bradway is the blame for draft picks when you have no idea but I can't discuss common sense that NE would be great in any division? Interesting how that works.
Bradway was scouting director. So, inarguably, he had some input into the team's draft. So now, your version of "success" is to "be in the hunt for a WC at least once"???!! What does that even mean? Your version of common sense ignores the FACT that ZERO WC teams--teams that are good enough at large, but not good enough in their division--came from the AFC East since the NY Mehs did it four seasons ago. The AFC East is not a tough division. It probably isn't the worst division, but, like the Jets, it's Meh. But, let's get back to the real argument: isn't it just plain ridiculous to be arguing that the Jets are a well-drafted team or a successful team when they have all of ONE pro-bowler from this year's team, haven't had a skill-player pro-bowler in many years, and haven't made the playoffs in 4 seasons? And the one ProBowler they have this year was drafted in the previous decade!!
NE has a 79% win % w/in the division since 2001 w/ Brady and 75% win outside of division. Virtually the same. they would dominate ANY division.
ok but you only mention misses, what about al the hits? what about all the success? they have 2 pro bowlers now as Richardson was added and the PB is a joke, are you telling me Mo hasn't deserved it?
"all the hits..." I'll bite: All WHAT Hits?! Being a starter on a sub-.500 team is not necessarily "hit worthy". So, go ahead, wow me with your hit list!!
it is just amazing how w/ were one of the better AFC teams since 2001 w/o any hits in the draft. I don't know how he did but that guy is amazing! talent does not just include the draft, trades and FA count too: Moss Jordan McKenzie Reed Evans D. Abraham Cowart Morton Thomas Baker Goodwin Moore Robertson McCareins Vilma Cotchery Coleman Kendall Barton Pouha Rhodes etc...
Dude, many of those players weren't drafted by the Jets: Barton, Reed, Cowart, Kendall... Many of them are from the 2000 decade, which has long since passed. And, seriously, you mentioned fucking Justin McCareins and Dwayne Robertson, one who absolutely sucked (and was a FA btw) and the other underperformed for the position in the draft he was taken at?!! You're clearly in need of a fact checker!!
