If they weren't listening to him then the front office was dysfunctional. The shake up there is going to be very healthy for this team.
McCaggnan deserves the right to bring in his guys, I have no issue w/ TB and others being let go but to act like they did nothing here is silly and typical of Jet fans.
I just hated how inconsistent the decision making was. Rex was allowed to pick Kyle Wilson, but then he hated the Stephen Hill pick. Bradway and the scouts in general were big on Hill, but yet Bradway gets ignored at the idea of drafting Russell Wilson. Dysfunctional.
well jeez they better have done something! they were here for 10 years. not enough however, and didn't have enough of a voice.
some bad luck being in a division with Tom Brady but helped us become ONLY other AFC East team to win AFC East in year Brady was playing, helped us whoop NE in biggest game ever btw the 2 franchises.
I'm all for the overhaul. I just dont think Bradway should take all the blame for the problems they've had. What about a guy like Damon Harrison? He was a UDFA. I would give the scouting department some credit for that.
Not an excuse at all but reality. No one is beating out NE in the reg season w/ Brady yet Rex had his team advance further than NE 2 times when he had talent.
i'm not saying they deserve zero credit and are the worst ever. what i'm saying is in 10 years they simply haven't done nearly enough to stay.
I think that TB is/was inadequate. Sure, they generally didn't whiff on low-round draft picks. But there have been notable ones: Gholston, Stephen Hill, Vlad Ducasse. And then there have been inflated grades that didn't take into account injury history. And then there was a general lack of uncovering gems at the back end of the draft: this is where I think we've seen a true underperforming unit. It should be easy to identify talent in the 1st through 3rd rounds. These are marquis talents that most even casual fantasy football league players are aware of. It's uncovering the hidden gems that seems like the most glaring deficiency. That and the seemingly frequent whiffs in the low rounds. We need an upgrade from TB!!
Which is why I agree that an overhaul is the right thing to do if thats what Maccagnan wants. I'm just arguing against the idea that all the blame goes on Bradway. I definitely believe he has contributed to putting the team in the spot its in now. But I just refuse to believe that all the Jets problems start with him. I think the last 4 years of bad football and the majority of bad first round draft picks dating back to the Gholston pick have been a complete organizational failure, not just one man doing a bad job.
Hmmm, he WAS fired as GM for cause. So, one could easily argue that he IS a main reason why the Jets suck. Let's face it, the Jets have mostly been talent deficient under his watch, both as GM and as Scouting Director.
Adam Schefter ✔ @AdamSchefter Jets GM Mike Maccagnan is strongly considering adding former Jaguars GM Gene Smith to his front office, per sources. The two men are close. FYI: Gene Smith drafted Blaine Gabbert over JJ Watt, Tyson Alualu over Earl Thomas, and Bryan Anger over Russell Wilson
I'm sorry but Bradway was terrible. The scouting department's job is to find talent beyond Round 1. If you take away the QB's, and look at who is a bust and who turned into no less then a good player out of all the 1st round picks, the bust rate is actually extremely low (around 15 - 20 percent.). I know for a fact there are a ton of people on TGG that know alot about most of the Top 50 or so potential draft picks right now. Take a guy like Mangold. He was the highest rated Center by far that year by everyone. Even Revis. He was the highest rated CB, the Jets just got lucky because he fell to them. I excluded the QB's because even in round 1, nearly all of them are a total roll of the dice because it's so hard to tell if the QB is really that good, or if the system/team they were on made them look better then they were. Now just look at our 2nd and 3rd rounders since 2009. Greene was awful. Kendrick Ellis did nothing. Hill was terrible. Davis is a very good player. Brian Winters is horrible. Amaro has shown some potential. McDougal didn't even play. So since 2009 we have drafted 1 good player and 1 potentially good player in rounds 2 and 3 combined. Now look from rounds 4 - 7 and there is almost NOTHING. Antonio Allen is a decent Safety. Kerley is a #4 receiver at best. Beyond Round 1 the Jets may be the worst drafting team of the last 5 years. That's on the scouting department.
again, it came out that Bradway wanted the Jets to take Russell Wilson. He wasn't in charge so shy does he get blame? and Greene wasn't a bad pick, key guy on 2 title game teams Ellis is a good player, you should watch him play. Hill bust others you mentioned TBD
Let's be real though. Wilson was passed over by everyone all the way until the 75th pick because everyone said he was too small, not to mention that Sanchez the previous year in 2011 started to show alot of improvement. At that point and time it looked like we were set at QB but had other needs to fill so we took a DE, WR, and LB in rounds 1, 2, and 3. I can't fault the Jets for not taking a QB at that time.
I understand we were set at the time but he wanted us to take Wilson. The point is he wasn't in charge and making those decisions but he gets blame for every perceived bad pick.
