How has Bradway survived so long? Terrible GM and worse scout. Can't wait until he is gone.

But over all in the last 10 years the drafts have been pretty bad. They've had 2 really good drafts since 2004.
2004 9 picks and 2 hits, Vilma in the first and Cotchery in the 4th.
2005 8 picks and 2.5 hits. Nugent in the 2nd round (he's the .5, I really can't give a full hit for picking a kicker in the 2nd round), Pouha in the 3rd and Rhodes in the 4th.
2006 10 picks and 5.5 hits Ferguson and Mangold in the 1st, Kellen Clemens in the 2nd, Eric Smith in the third, Brad Smith and Leon Washington in the 4th...though in reality on the two first rounders were really full time starters in the NFL.
2007 4 picks and 2 hits. Revis in the first and Harris in the 2nd.
2008 6 picks and 2 hits. keller in the first and Lowery in the 4th.
2009 3 picks and 3 hits, Sanchez in the 1st, Greene in the 3rd and Slauson in the 6th.
    2010 4 picks and 0 hits.
2011 6 picks and 4 hits. Wilkerson in the first, ellis in the 3rd, Powell in the 4th and Kerley in the 5th
The next few years are incomplete grades and only based on current appearance.
2012 8 picks and 3 hits (really this might be 2 hits but I'm holding out for Coples), Coples in the 1st, Davis in the third, Allen in the 7th.
2013 7 picks and 2.5 hits (Most are only .5 right now because only Richardson has really shined to this point). Richardson is the only solid, the .5 are Milliner , Aboushi, Smith.
2014 12 picks and so far only 1 pick is looking to be worth anything, Amaro, but there is hope for 3 or 4 others but injuries have sidelined it.

I'm being very lenient in what I term as a hit here because a number of the Hit's are really boarderline starters or 2nd string players, if even that.

So even being generous over the past decade of drafting that's 77 picks and 27.5 at least marginal hits that are at least bench players on most NFL teams. Not exactly a sparkling record and only 6 real impact players over that time period.

I fully expected this when we signed Maccagnan. He is a personnel guy, I'm sure he would want his own guys that he is familiar with.

I'm not gonna rag on a guy for getting fired, instead I will thank him for his time and wish him the best in the future.

Are we really talking about kickers when this team doesn't have a QB, enough WRs, anybody to play CB or Safety and some old guys still trying to hold up the OL?

I was on board with it strictly because of how many points kickers account for. If we were looking at the next vinatieri, I was very happy with it. I just don't know how kicking a football in the pros becomes so difficult when it was so easy in college. Most confusing jets bust in recent history.

Good news. This was long overdue.

Hopefully now Maccagnan will be able to put some people in place who can actually help get this team some quality young talent on a consistent basis.

Great to hear Woody is giving him free reign and the funding needed to put together the staff he wants.

I thought getting rid of the last GM but premature but if the result is a true house cleaning, so be it. People talked about Idzik taking over as a house cleaning but it was hardly that.

Now we just have to hope we have the right guys doing it.

You have to have the connections to rebuild a staff once you clean house. My guess is that Idzik, being a cap guy & not the most likable guy, didn't have a great deal of football based scouting connections. I think that's why he didn't clean house. It was similar with Tannenbaum.. he was both a cap guy and a guy who mostly rose up with the same organization, it would've been difficult for him to assemble a whole new staff of football guys from other organizations

Mac cut his bones in college scouting and would likely to have made more connections that way over the years.

The best part of that report though is the part where he was concerned about the Jets lack of commitment to scouting and wanted to be ensured that won't be the case if he got the job. That is great to hear

I don't....The Jets haven't hit on a solid mid to late round pick in a while. And whiff 50% of the time in the first.

    I love this scouting overhaul.

didn't it come out how Bradway loved Russell Wilson? how do we know he didn't love other guys that hit and his advice wasn't taken?

    he's not a scapegoat...

it's results vs who's in charge...he's gone, he should be gone, and mac will bring in upgrades.

when it comes to QB and now scouting, I've seemed to notice you like to stay w the status quo but want improvement...can't have both.

if this team is to take strides forward, change needs to occur on various levels. Change is good.

I'm happy Bradway will be gone.

But if Gene Smith walks within 10 feet of the building, the 2015 season is already over.
