setting a Jets record for most TDs in 2011 should have gotten him benched? interesting. No to mention 3 of his top 5 weapons entering that season were out of football in 2012 and not b/c they didn't want to play.

you do know he did bench him in 2012, right? How did that work out?

Bullshit, that fucker sucked at being a HC. That's why he was fired.

Say what, don't turn on your boy Sanchez now. After all these years are you admitting Sanchez was bad?

    Progress. We have progress.

How can I take you seriously when you elevate a mediocre player like Mark and say he's better than Aaron Rodgers. I think you're joking and being silly but how do I know. Maybe you wear a #6 jersey day and night (24/7) and have pictures of your hero and a Fathead on the walls of your house. Get this straight: Mark imploded the second half of 2011. OK you don't bench him then because he was coming off of a good season (his only good season until 2014). But if Rex had benched Mark after he totally fell apart in 2012 (I would have started Tebow) at least we would have had a chance to turn things around. But he refused to do it and finally put in McElroy when it was too late. You will deny this and blame everything on the O-line or receivers but the main reason the team lost in 2011 and 2012 was-Mark and Rex.

Haha I know. Just saying that is how he can succeed. I am not a fan of Rex if you haven't noticed. :)

I always thought I was a fan of Rex, but after 6 years of the same mistakes with him being the last remaining constant, I realized that I was really a fan of hoping that Rex would succeed to send a great big "Fuck You" to his detractors (like Francessa or Giant fans). But it's time to move on.

Sure he did. Rex on NYJ players: "Through their efforts I'm sitting here today."

Sounds like a subtle slap in the face to me. Lol!

Although I didn't see it live, I actually think this means that he's crediting the players for what he perceives to be his "success" as Jets' coach. I really don't think Rex will turn on the Jets. By his own account he was treated fairly.

Bills fans complained about their coach after a good season and a plus 3 game improvement in 2014. And a legit run for a playoff bid. Now they think they've scored a cool guy in Rex Ryan. And coming from a team you executed beat downs on two times in 2014. Including a game played in Detroit after your Bills team had almost no preparation and the Jets had all week. Hard to believe you really think this is an upgrade.

this is a silly post. I can bash Rex and also appreciate what he did. He failed to develop two QBs but also took us to the playoffs twice. He led miserable offenses, but also brought some swagger for a couple years. He wasn't completely terrible and he wasn't completely perfect, but the reason he was let go was because he struggled here the second half of his tenure. It's clear as day why Woody made the decision. We can disagree or agree with it, but there's a clear, logical reasoning why he did it. That doesn't mean for whatever reason we deserve to have a losing season. As time goes on appreciation for Rex will rise as the sudden pain of 4 miserable seasons won't be immediately on us. That's how sports works.

Exactly. It is possible to both appreciate 2009 and 2010 for the memorable runs that they were and still be disappointed in and critical of the last four seasons. The mistake the Rex fanboys tend to make is that they let their admiration for his success in 2009 and 2010 cloud their assessment of his overall body of work.

I think it's why you saw so many people rooting on here for Rex to go Atlanta. People appreciate him, but they also realize one main weakness was offense. It's why a lot of people, including myself, wanted him to go to ATL, so he would have an offense and have a chance to have that side of the ball ready to go and have the ability to have a great year.

Oh well, I appreciate what he did but also realize he didn't really improve on any of his weakness and struggled on how to address the offensive side of the ball. He started accepting Schotty as HC, kind of letting him do his own thing but pushing the WC and run heavy gamelans when panicking. He then hired his own OC which backfired miserably. Then he got another QB and another OC and again struggled to develop the QB and the offense. Offense then didn't adapt when it acquired it's best WR in 3-4 years in Decker. Lots of struggles there.

This is the worst thing you have ever posted. Every Jets fan appreciates what Rex and the Jets did in 2009 and 2010. However, winning 4 playoff games cannot count as an excuse to keep a coach after 4 straight seasons of missing the playoffs and going (4-12). You also can't say "The Jets have a terrible history, so compared to the past, Rex is great and should stay!" That would be crazy. The fact was he missed the playoffs 4 straight years while looking like a terrible team most of that time. Change was needed. Pretty simple to see.

The thing is how long can you keep saying his teams made the AFC Championship game two years running. It was a great accomplishment but 4 years ago. And the record over those 4 seasons is abysmal. He got his chances mostly based on those first two seasons. And he had plenty to do in personnel decisions. If that's your excuse for his mediocrity.

Give Rex credit. He gets hired and he gets more NYC pub than the guy the Jets hire to replace him. And I have to admit. My dislike of Rex is much stronger than my apathy towards Bowles.
