6 hours and the right smoker will get you the perfect slab, bet. We're not talking a barrel and 3 chunks of mesquite here, I know fellas that have a setup bigger than my truck.
I have nothing but hope for the Macagnan hiring. I like that he is a personnel guy, but as of today we have a GM and an HC that between them have no track records in their respective positions. The logical position for observers such as ourselves is to be patient and see how it works out. At least I don't start out as I did with Idzik with a concern that he was not near the top of the Jets' list at the time and also did not have enough personnel experience. The one thing about the hire I am not sure I understand is this. The timing would suggest that Macagnan had little or no input on the Bowles hire. Nor do they have any prior experience working with each other. That does not mean they cannot get along. But neither does it mean the Jets have minimized the prospect of divergent strategies going forward.
Didn't Macagnan spend 3 days at the Jets facility leading up to the Bowles hire? I'm not saying he definitely had input with that hire but he definitely had to be on board with it.
Huh? to me the timing suggests Mac had a lot of input on the Bowles hire... Bowles interviewed early here but wasn't the favorite reportedly by any means until Mac was in the fold. To me that says he was highly involved in the Bowles hiring. Either way if you make the claim you are concerned that Mac isn't an experienced GM why would you want him to suggest and hire the HC? By the way practically every GM that is hired in this league doesn't have experience as a GM before taking on the job. Not a lot of retreads at that level. It's rare in fact to see a GM get a second chance..
Really" huh?" Maccagnan was not hired until last night. The issue is not whether Macagnan is experienced. The question is how much input did he have on the Bowles hire? To be clear I don't know and am not saying he had none. You also draw from the correlation of timing an element of causation, by that I mean that Bowles was not the favorite until Maccagnan was hired. But that was not the only variable. Denver being in the possible hunt for Quinn is an example. I hope Maccagnan did have input and is totally on board, to be clear.
Do you honestly think it's coincidence that Bowles was called back for a second interview the day it broke that Mac was staying in NJ because he was going to be the next GM? Also why do you think Mac was at dinner with Bowles, Casserly, Wolf and Woody? I think every sign points to Mac being on board with the hire and having input.
http://www.ganggreennation.com/2015/1/14/7546053/report-mike-maccagnan-to-clean-house "Darlington says Maccagnan wanted a bigger budget for his scouting department and got everything he wanted. He's bringing in his own staff" Good Bye Bradway - It's been real,.. Bad.
The timing isn't an issue considering Maccagnan was floated as the fait accompli hire days ago. And fwiw the problem with Rex and Idzik having different agendas is purely philosophy that Rex in his sixth year wanted to win now while Idzik wanted to stick to a long term plan. Both Maccagnan and Bowles are at the same point in their careers as first year guys. And if you want to get excited about the new GM listen to the audio of an interview with Jeff Darlington on the Joe and Evan show. This guy means business.
Yes he hesitated when Evan Roberts asked about Bradway and gave an answer of something like I dont want to speculate but uhhh yea I think you could say that Bradway is out. He also said that Macaggnan would not accept the job until he was given assurances that he could bring his own scouting department and that the scouting department would be adequately funded. Makes you really wonder how much of a shit show this place was that they were considered to not be spending high on scouting and also having the hodge podge of employees.
One write up about him says that he's a true scout and will be out scouting more so than at Florham Park. Not possible in his current position. They need someone to be there to run the front office. Many more aspects to his new job other than just college scouting. Which he's been doing for the Texans since 2000. I'm sure he's ready for this.
Bradway is gone!!!! And the children of St Petersburg rejoiced as they could finally sing that old Rasputin was dead
I'm shedding tears of joy right now!! Finally we're done with the curse of Badway! Oh Happy Happy Day! This is better than getting laid! ... Wait..
Bob Glauber 2m My understanding is Jets GM Mike Maccagnan will make major changes in scouting department. Terry Bradway & Jeff Bauer not expected to stay. Best news all day!
A nice brief article to read about Maccagnan http://www.nationalfootballpost.com...tml?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
