I can't imagine anyone being that dumb, but it's been done before. I believe getting a new quarterback is now THE most important thing! Not getting one means flushing next year down the toilet today.
While I do think Fatcesa is a blowhard, he does have a track record of picking good coaches. I would have preferred Quinn (along with Shanahan for OC) a bit more, but I understand why we didn't wait for him.
This is going to be one of those "what have you done lately?" hires if it happens. Gailey was a very widely respected offensive mind in early 00's but that's a decade ago now. What is his plan to be better than he was before? Because he's going to find the Jet's cupboard a bit bare on that side of the ball. Not enough high picks there recently that worked out.
Not really a shot at you but I'm sick of this talk about base defense, 3-4 or 4-3 is symantics mostly since in todays NFL nickel and dime is a much more important package than a base defense, no matter what base package you run at least one coverage backer is damn near required and the rest is scheme by personnel.
Great interview. Favorite line: you have to be honest with players and tell them when they're doing good and when they're doing bad. And if they can't get it done, you have to part ways. (paraphrased from memory). Like it.
everyone excited for blitzes? haven't we seen enough last season? unless we get patrick patterson, we'll be a > 20 scoring defense
Calm down, can we get a secondary in place first? He isn't blitzing all day with the likes of trash we currently have out in the secondary
He had a down year for starters. Plus, they had a LOT of guys hurt last year. At the start of the season, people were already writing off Arizona because of their injuries. So...I guess there's that. He proved them wrong. Or was that more Arians?
The one thing I am happy about, is that he seems like a stern coach that players still love anyway. Rex was a players coach, but obviously wasn't very stern. My main concern is that the defense takes a step back anyway, and that he has as little clue about offense as Rex does, but that latter part can't possibly be true.
God damned I like this. Good job Axel. I can not believe some of the negativity and BS around here after a new hire. Some of the members at TTG can not possibly be Jet fans but rather trolls from hell. But if they proclaim to be, they seem to be naturally unhappy from the moment they wake up till the fall asleep...and might even be unhappily haunted while they dream. Nothing is ever good enough, yet the Arizona fans speak nothing but compliments in Bowles behalf. Go figure.
Yeah, but you can't run a 4-3 with 4 big guys and no speed rusher and that's what the Jets have right now. Bowles as the HC means the Jets don't have to draft a pass rusher on the 6. It means they can seriously consider extending Muhammad Wilkerson without worrying whether he and Richardson are going to wind up wanting the same position in a couple of years, a situation that would absolutely blow chunks. You think Mo Wilk at $14M a year is bad as a 3-4 DE? Imagine Mo Wilk at $14M a year at LDE in a 4-3. That would be extremely destructive to the Jets cap posture, especially when the 3T (Richardson) was looking for the same deal AND they still had to pay a pass rusher at RDE.
Most people react w hating the hire without knowing a lick about the guy. Ohhh noo another dc!!! Belichick was a DC no? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
dear friends who are talking about him being a defensive guy, a defensive mind. IT DOESNT MATTER!!!! he is the head coach and his job is to BE THE HEAD COACH. i dont give a shit if his background is that of donkey fucker, if he can head coach and handle ALL of those responsibilities then he is the guy i want. i happen to think this is probably going to end up being a very good hire. i am happy at this moment in time.
Just a cool little video: Bowles' first post-game speech as the interim HC of the Dolphins in 2011 - http://www.miamidolphins.com/multim...m-Speech/eb7f02d2-c7d4-4bf7-a9b4-48b08712b0f8
Harrison and Ellis are the odd man outs value wise in a 4-3 since there slow asses are not good at shooting gaps, Shell and Wilk already played a fuck ton of 3 tech in our nickel and dime, coaching up a 3-4 compared to a 4-3 is much different but you always coach where the personnel is no matter what scheme you like.
