Rotoworld has confirmed it. Jets hired ex-Texans director of college scouting Mike Maccagnan as general manager. Jan 13 - 6:57 PM
For anyone worrying about us hiring a coach before a GM, it is no longer an issue. I think team Wolf-Casserly is off to a good start.
He was my 3rd choice for GM behind Ryan Pace and Chris Ballard, whom subsequently both denied interviewing with us. So now let's hope we either end up with Quinn or Bowles as HC and I'll be extremely happy. Be very interesting to see who becomes our OC n DC as well
I like going in the direction of having more focus on talent evaluation...hopefully it pays off long term.
http://www.ganggreennation.com/2015/1/13/7541207/what-made-the-new-york-jets-choose-mike-maccagnan Love this artilce. Basically Maccagnan was the guy from the start, but the Jets didn't jump the gun and interviewed more people. Also, he didn't just take the job because it was a GM spot. He wanted a guarantee that the SCOUTING DEPT would be properly supported. Words to describe him were logical, focused, rational, and smart. I am not used to those words being used to describe anyone associated with Jets management. Could be the start of a beautiful relationship.
Right. So in two years we can hire the talent evaluator to get a cap guy since the talent guy got us in cap hell. After two years we fire the cap guy for the talent guy.
