Well I think that in Hesses world playing basketball with the players was a no no so Hess had him axed
Yeah, because if Carroll stayed with the Jets he would have won multiple Super Bowls. Nothing happened in between from him being fired by the Jets to him winning the Super Bowl with the Seahawks........
It was 20 years later lol...how could we know that Pete Carol would still be around in 20 years this happend in 1994 when he was fired ...I was 7 years old and not a Jets fan yet thank god
Anyone who thinks Carroll is the reason Seattle is where they are right now needs to have their head examined.
If playing basketball with the players got him fired, it was because he played basketball during a six game, season ending loosing steak which started with the infamous spike game. Because when he was in first place at 6-5 after beating the Bills, there were no complaints about playing basketball.
What are you taking about? Carroll hired the Gm. Carroll hired the coaching staff. Carroll coached the players. How can you not give him credit for the Seahawks' success?
gee get a life outside FB is my recommendation to U as U took my post far, far to seriously. However to my memory Hess never gave a explanation why he canned Carroll. Maybe it was the gofer role that Kotex was performing for Hess like bringing him his coffee so Hess decided that he would swap Kotex for Petey for being so nice to Hess
Actually, Hess did give a reason. At the time he said "I'm getting older and I want to win NOW!" Somehow he thought that Kotite was the answer to an instant turnaround. I will say that '94 season was one of the most memorable for me as a Jet fan. The team looked pretty solid midway through the season. They had an 18 pt. lead in a crucial game against Miami and then Boomer threw an interception, Miami capped a comeback win with the infamous "fake spike" play and the Jets totally came apart at the seams the rest of the season. At the time, a lot of people said that Carroll had lost the team as it looked as though his players had quit on him. I live in N.E. and the fans and media here were pretty brutal to Pete Carroll. Didn't help that he was the unlucky guy to follow a legend (Parcells) who had just left the Patriots at the altar following their SB loss to Green Bay. Carroll was accused of being too soft and too West Coast.
Me saying he's not the main reason for their success is the same thing as me saying he should get no credit?
Carroll got shafted by impatient old man Hess. I never wanted him gone and always liked him as a coach. Belly shafted us before we could shaft him...pre-emptive shaft, lol.
